POLandAUSSIE Africa and Asia will in the future become key markets for Polish food exporters, according to Aleksander Libera of the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIiH) cited by the daily Rzeczpospolita. The most important markets in Africa are Nigeria, RSA and Algeria, followed by Kenya. Polish producers are already making gentle forays, especially confectioners. One of the possible expansion paths are foreign direct investments and the biggest players are already considering them, Libera says. In Asia, the most important market is China.

11.01.2022 Enterprise Investors to spend EUR 250 million in Poland POLandAUSSIE Private equity fund Enterprise Investors (EI) has just raised EUR 498 million for its new CEE fund, nearly EUR 50 million above initial assumptions, and plans to spend at least a half of the sum in Poland, EI CEO Jacek Siwicki told the daily Rzeczpospolita. EI will be looking particularly closely at mid-sized companies from such sectors as retail, consumer goods, financial services and healthcare, but the approach will be selective. Asked about foreign investors' view of Poland, Siwicki pointed to concerns about sources of funding beyond the EU financial perspective 2014-2020 and the uncertain future of pension funds OFE.

Settlement hearings are supposed to start this week but the one involving bank BOS will likely be postponed, according to the newspaper. None of the banks involved will agree to a settlement as this would cost CEOs their job, a source close to large-cap lender PKO BP tells Parkiet. The investors also refuse to hear of a settlement and plan to demand return of certificates from Energa should the contracts be declared void, which could cause the power company to face fines from energy market regulator URE.
