25.01.2022 The first time I ever had the privilege of being a bridesmaid was for my beautiful sister @themelodyjarvis who celebrated her 15th Wedding Anniversary yesterday! This was also my first time getting my makeup professionally done and fuelled my love of all things beauty! While I was growing up Melody was pivotal in my beauty education as I watched her experiment with products and makeup, make her own lip balm, learn how to achieve beautiful curls and teach me how to do the same! She also taught me the magic of a beautiful brow shape which Im sure you can agree is the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Happy Anniversary Melody! 20.01.2022 Keeping my kit sanitised and clean is forefront in my practice as a makeup artist. I will never cut corners with my tools or products and follow the highest industry standards when working with clients and sanitising in between clients. I love using @parianspirit to clean my brushes and combine this with brush shampoo and 70% Isopropyl alcohol to make sure they are completely clean and sanitary. I then dry them with the bristles able to air to make sure even the deepest parts... of my biggest brushes are clean and dry. For my cream and powder products I always decant from the original packaging using a disposable cotton tip or stainless steel cosmetic spatula onto a sanitised stainless steel cosmetic mixing palette. I used to love mixing products on the back of my hand as this warms up and emulsifies the product but I wont be doing that right now. I use @beautysoclean_ to sanitise my cosmetic products and Isopropyl Alcohol to sanitise all tools and cosmetic packaging. From now on I will be wearing a mask and gloves when applying makeup on clients and I will ask that we work in a well aerated space. All of these measures are designed to keep each and every one of us safe and so that you still get to enjoy the beauty of wearing gorgeous makeup for your most special occasions! 19.01.2022 Whooooo! That autumn wind is drying!!!! Am I right?? I get REALLY dry lips especially in winter time and the only lip balm I have used that helps is the handmade one from my little sister who was very rude and had a baby so my supply has been cut off!! So Ive been forced against my will to go in search of another lip balm that can keep the chaff at bay and happily Ive found TWO!! Theyre both completely natural and Australian owned and made which is a must for me! They b...oth contain beeswax so theyre not vegan unfortunately. For me beeswax is one of the only things that keeps my lips protected so honestly Im not sure if I would have good results with a lip balm that didnt contain it. The @thursday_plantation Macadamia Ultra Hydrating Lip Balm is a bit more oily and glossy than your average lip balm and its worth giving the tube a good smoosh to mix all the different butters and oils back together. Mine had separated a bit probably due to some being solid at room temp and some being liquid. But despite this, I love how it feels on my lips and the fresh glossy finish that it gives! I would put this over my lipstick to add some conditioning shine. It is too oily for lipstick to adhere to so apply it sparingly and allow to soak in for a bit before applying lippie if youre using this one! The @moogooskincare Natural SPF Lip Balm is a nice, solid very balmy balm with a colourless, odourless formulation containing zinc oxide for sun protection. It is perfect for putting on any time of day or night and can handle lipstick and lipliner over the top which I love. Both of them feel beautiful and are keeping my lips soft and moisturised so Im in love! Do you have a favourite lip balm? If you are getting ready for a special occasion make sure you groom your brows (or even better get them professionally done) about a week before your event! 15.01.2022 Spa pedicures are the best! And so easy to do at home! 1. Soak 2. Scrub 3. Nourish SOAK... Use bicarbonate soda in warm water with a few drops of your favourite essential oil and soak your feet for as long as you like! You can add some petals and some drops of olive oil if you want to get fancy! SCRUB Heres the fun part! Get your hands on some salt, bicarbonate soda, coffee grounds or a dedicated foot scrub and really get stuck in to those feet focussing on any rough parts around your heels or balls of your feet. If you have a foot file or pumice stone use that in this step! Also grab a nail brush and any nail tools you have and clean up your toenails and cuticles gently. Rinse your feet in your soaking tub and pat dry. NOURISH Your feet work hard for you and they are often overlooked and neglected! Show them some love by applying a good amount of foot cream or rich moisturiser and give yourself (or convince someone else) a massage while youre at it! Your body will thank you for it! If you have sensitive skin or dont have foot cream olive oil or coconut oil work beautifully! Chuck on some warm socks and let your feet really soak it up! Decorate Embellish youre beautifully pampered feet with your favourite polish, gel or nail wrap! Its amazing how much of a difference it makes to how you feel when you can look down and see well cared for feet! It is from the b beauty range at @bigwaustralia which is a budget vegan and cruelty free makeup line. It is moisturising and creamy, has a fun pop of colour and wears well throughout the day! I dont look for brands or price tag all the time. If Im buying staple products like foundation and conce...aler yes! They need to be high quality and highly reliable! 03.01.2022 One day I was walking through our local shopping centre with August running riot behind me and Olive a newborn strapped to me in the baby carrier. I was tired, flustered and just trying to get through my day when I ran into one of the friendliest and most encouraging blokes Ive ever come across! Home grown not far from where I grew up on the Granite Belt! We breed good stock out there! He greeted me with an encouragement about how well I was doing to be out and about so so...on after giving birth which Ive never forgotten! It really brightened up my day! He had his gorgeous wife and little boy with him and he told me all about his plans to open our first local butcher! He was committed to sourcing high quality meat from local growers and beautiful locally made gourmet condiments. I have watched Two Butchers open, flourish, adapt to our community needs and SO QUICKLY start making a huge impact on our community giving back, connecting businesses and advocating for all that is good! Steve you have made a huge positive difference in the Greater Springfield Area! Not just bringing fabulous locally grown meat to our tables but also bringing that small country town feeling and community spirit.
