25.01.2022 STAYING CONNECTED IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN EVER ... we still cannot recommence parkrun at the moment, but we can stay connected to those that may be struggling mentally. Some people in your world might be feeling anxious, worried about when things will return to normal, be physically unwell or concerned about their health and wellbeing. Use this time to pick up the phone, video call, or text those that may be feeling isolated and need someone to talk to. If you’re feeling well ...and able to support someone, reach out and let them know you’re there to help now and for as long as it takes. Take a walk together or a run, we all know how exercise is good for our mental health - having someone with you makes it all so much better. When did you start parkrun? 20 April 2013 (Augustine Heights launch. So the anniversary is also my parkrun anniversary) What made you start parkrun? Someone came to a StAC P&F to talk about this thing called parkrun and I wanted something to do to get me out of the house. I'd been quite the hermit before that. How many parkruns have you done? 358 What's your home parkrun? Augustine Heights Where is your favourite parkrun? That's like asking which is your favourite child! Augustine Heights for its location and familiarity, White Rock for trail, Berrinba for its one loop. I could go on. Which parkrun have you travelled the most distance away from home? Off the top of my head it's between Cairns, Jindabyne or Emerald. Flew to Cairns to get my final C for Pirates club. 4-day driving round-trips to Jindabyne and Emerald for the letters J and E. What keeps you coming back every week? Habit. I have only missed the Saturdays that have been officially cancelled. What's your favourite vollie position? 40 minute pacer (it's an easy time to calculate the splits. And I'm not getting any faster these days)

Only downside is it’s so far from home. Which parkrun have you travelled the most distance away from home? Rocks Riverside What keeps you coming back every week? The community feeling is so amazing and everyone is so accepting no matter the ability level. It’s a lovely way to start your weekend! What's your favourite vollie position? I’ve done a lot of time keeper but it stresses me out. I do love tail walking because it’s good to see all the different people of all the different abilities doing their best and just enjoying their Saturday morning with everyone else who as a similar interest. 18.01.2022 Hi All, We are so excited that most parkruns are able to resume this coming Saturday. Please be aware, that due to delays (beyond parkruns control) in to obtaining land owners permission, White Rock and Ipswich will not be able to recommence this Saturday.... Please be conscious of where you decide to parkrun, some larger events will be adjusting to our new COVID framework. Remember to be kind and comply with the framework so that parkrun can continue. On another note, while parkrun focuses on getting all events back up and running, our proposal and subsequent approval (fingers crossed) for the new course at Brookwater will be temporarily on hold. Fear not, we will keep you posted!! Enjoy parkrun on Saturday :)

October 2016... What made you start Parkrun? One of my buddies dragged me to Southbank parkrun, with the promise of breakfast afterwards. How many parkruns have you done? 155 What's your home parkrun? Augustine Heights Where is your favourite parkrun? Tough one, Underwood Park maybe, or Berrinba. Which parkrun have you travelled the most distance away from home? I went to Chipping Norton in Sydney a couple of months ago. What keeps you coming back every week? I have a great bunch of running buddies, and we get breakfast at a local cafe afterwards. It’s all about the breakfast! What's your favourite vollie position? I love marshalling at the top of the hill. I see the best of everyone, and get to know so many faces. Also, there’s a cat that lives nearby. Sometimes we chat.

17.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we advise you that one of our AH parkrunners Scott Rafferty passed away suddenly on Saturday 18/4/20. Our thoughts are with his wife Linda their daugther Tikilah, his family and his huge circle of friends. He was a larger life character and always put a smile on peoples faces. He will be dearly missed by all that were lucky enough to know him :'(

We know you all miss parkrun (as do we) and we've had some messages asking when the next run is, or when parkrun will resume. parkrun Australia are regularly updating all parkrunners via email, website or their facebook page (If you are a registered parkrunner, you should be receiving email updates).... If you are keen to be kept up to date with info as it becomes available, check this facebook page out: https://www.facebook.com/parkrunAU/ Hopefully, the curve will again start to flatten and we can work toward resuming "normal" life. Then I remember seeing a fb post one day of someone asking why all these people meet at Catherine Morgan Park on a Saturday morning and someone explained it was park run. I called my sister super excited that park run was not only in Australia but there was one just round the corner from me!! I remember being really scared turning up that first time but haven’t looked back since. How many parkruns have you done? I’ve done 202 park runs- I had a goal last year to make it every week and did manage 52 park runs in 2019. What's your home parkrun? Augustine Heights Where is your favourite parkrun? Kingscliffe - super flat! Which parkrun have you travelled the most distance away from home? I’ve done a few in England but technically I think the furthest would be Ormeau park run in Belfast, Northern Ireland. What keeps you coming back every week? the park run community, especially at Augustine Heights. I love that anyone can do it, and it’s truly changed peoples lives! Rocks Riverside parkrun or check out the website for another parkrun close to you. Remember to comply with the COVID requirements for parkrun and to say thank you to the volunteers - without them parkrun won't happen :)

07.01.2022 Good Morning everyone! Exciting news! Both White Rock parkrun & Ipswich QLD parkrun are both back up and....well... running as of this Saturday (19/12). So if you've been hanging for one of our local Ipswich parkruns, you can join them this weekend.... Please note, both parkruns are looking for volunteers - if you can, please head to their pages and check out what jobs need doing and put your hand up to help. On another note: White Rock parkrun is doing both Christmas Day and New Years Day parkrun events - they really need your help - if you can volunteer, please let them know. What's happening with us: Our progress with relocating has slowed down to make sure that all the events reopening could do so without issue. I am sure we will recommence our planning shortly and will keep you updated with what is happening :) So get out there and support and enjoy parkrun! We are lucky enough to be able to do it. 04.01.2022 Happy Saturday Morning parkrunners & walkers It is wonderful news to hear that parkrun will recommence in Queensland on 28 November we know many of you have been hanging out for that news. Unfortunately, the Augustine Heights parkrun course surrounds have changed significantly over the years it has been active, and as a result there are some safety issues that will prevent us from recommencing our parkrun at its current location. We understand how sad this news is for o...ur parkrun family, (we really do) but safety is paramount. The exciting news is that we are in the processing of finalizing our application to relocate our parkrun to O’Possum Creek Parklands at Brookwater. This course will be an out and back with lovely wide paths and a nice shaded canopy of trees for the majority of the course (oh and it has some hills still). We are lodging our documentation with parkrun and ICC for final approval and hope to have a start date for you in the not do distant future. So, bear with us while we work through the process. In the meantime, enjoy visiting our many other local parkruns and remember to comply with the COVID requirements and cheer on the volunteers, without them parkrun could not happen! Thank you to everyone who has made Augustine Heights parkrun the great event it has been over the past 7 years <3
