25.01.2022 Shinrin-yoku ( , literally forest bath) is a Japanese term from the 1980s to describe being close to nature. It is simply the act of being in and conscious of a forest environment, and can be as basic as taking a quiet walk through a small forest. This term came about to encourage people to take a step back from the evolving technology of the time, and seems to be a good stress reducer.... In these difficult times where even the streets are quiet, perhaps we can take a moment to reflect on our more natural roots.

15.01.2022 21 April 2020 COVID19 Marshall Liberal Government International Student Support Package - Hardship Payments ... The South Australian Government has demonstrated its commitment to our international students community, by announcing a new $13.8 million International Student Support Package. The International Student Support Package is designed to support international students currently residing in South Australia and facing financial hardship caused by CoronaVirus pandemic. There are three components to the SA Government package: (1) University Students The South Australian Government, in partnership with the states three public universities, will match funding to alleviate student hardship as a result of COVID-19. The funding will be distributed between the University of Adelaide, Flinders University and the University of South Australia to distribute to their pathway and international students. (2) Other Overseas Students A $500 emergency cash grant will be available to other international students not studying at one of the public universities, currently enrolled in a course, living in Adelaide and who meet the criteria. (3) School Students For school students living with South Australian families, a one-off $200 COVID-19 assistance payment per student will be provided to homestay families, to help support accommodation for school students. This significant financial package comes on top of work already underway by education providers, agents and community groups in Adelaide. I would like to thank many multicultural community organisations and business professionals who have played a significant role helping overseas students in Adelaide during this unprecedented difficult time. We are grateful for the generosity and response across the Adelaide community in supporting international students during this pandemic. Adelaide is a wonderful destination for international students and we want to continue extending the welcome to international students. The Department of Human Services (DHS), in conjunction with StudyAdelaide, will be administering the International Student Support Package for the following South Australian-based international students who meet the criteria: English language students (excluding students on packaged programs with one of South Australias three public Universities) Vocational Education and Training (VET) students Higher education students studying with one of South Australias private higher-education institutions How do I apply? 06.01.2022 In Kasukabe city, Japan, there is a massive underground drainage system that protects against the risk of floods due to the citys low-lying land and rivers. And while Kasukabe did suffer floods before , this massive structure was built as the city became much more densely populated. Its not just urbanisation; rising sea levels due to climate change exacerbate the threat of natural disaster. Its important to be aware of how change can affect peoples from different places.... 02.01.2022 If you want to add a special touch to a gift, why not try wrapping it furoshiki-style? Furoshiki () has the literal meaning of bath spread and is said to come from the Nara period of Japan, when decorated cloth was used to wrap and identify ones belongings in a bathhouse. This style of wrapping found subsequent use in transporting items, and today, as shopping bags or even giving gifts.... You can purchase fabric that is made to be furoshiki, but its also economic in that you can reuse old cloth in the style of furoshiki as well. Sometimes, things born out of necessity can become its own art! Sources: https://www.abc.net.au//furoshiki-environmentally-/9228456 https://www.1millionwomen.com.au//how-furoshiki-japanese-/
