11.01.2022 We added two new yellow belts and two new green belts to our ranks following our recent grading. A fine effort all round - including from our 4 year old guest examiner!

11.01.2022 Great news, we can recommence training at our pre-covid times as of Tuesday 30 June at 6 pm. The lessons will continue to be presented on Zoom until mid July so that everyone can transition back. There are some changes to the classes to meet the requirements of our CovidSafe Plan, but these will be explained at the lessons. The main restriction to be aware of is that you will need to wait outside the hall and come in individually so we can manage hand sanitizing, attendance r...ecording and ensure everyone has completed membership forms. Fortunately we can access change rooms, but please change quickly as we have to limit the number of people in them simultaneously. Hope to see you back in the dojo soon. Regards, Peter

10.01.2022 And that's a wrap! Merry xmas everyone!

09.01.2022 See below for updates on training times, class conduct and grading. TRAINING TIMES As you know, we are back to the normal training times:... Tuesday 6pm - 7.30pm in the Exercise Studio Thursday 6.30pm - 8.30pm in the Irene Watson Room Saturday 9.30am - 11.30am in the Exercise Studio CLASS CONDUCT We have been operating in accordance with our Return to Sport Plan, which includes restrictions on distancing, Kiai, and partner training. After working for a few weeks, it appears we can maintain distancing and safely reintroduce the use of full Kiai during lessons in the modified format. Over the coming weeks, and subject to any significant changes in the South Australian government guidelines on Covid19 we will also be starting to re-introduce some activities involving limited physical contact. These will be purely voluntary and alternative training activities will be provided for those that would prefer not to participate in those specific activities. For this to be successful, it is critical that we continue to observe the key requirements of our current Return to Sport Plan: 1. Do not come to class if feeling unwell or if there is reason to believe you may have been exposed to Covid19 until you have a clear test. 2. Use the hand sanitizer provided at the entrance of the classes on arrival. 3. Practice good hygiene (wash/sanitize hands regularly, cough or sneeze into tissues or the crook of your arm). 4. Ensure you arrive no later than 15 minutes after the scheduled start time. GRADING Now that we are back in a position to train regularly, some of you may wish to consider grading. We will be holding a grading on 12 September 2020 during the training session. For those interested in grading, please speak with one of the instructors. Cost will be $50, which will cover the grading certificate and belts. For those not wishing to grade, please come along on 12 September, there will still be an opportunity to train as usual. Thanks and stay safe, Peter

07.01.2022 We're not quite ready to resume classes yet - waiting on further Government direction regarding the requirement for modified plans. Hopefully won't be too long. Hang in there and stay tuned.

02.01.2022 Hi everyone, To update you on the Covid19 situation, there is still no clear date when classes can restart. The AKF is currently looking at the state activities restarting in July and the university is just preparing for outdoor sport activities to start in the next couple of weeks. Sports that do restart will need a Covid19 Action Plan explaining how they will operate with physical distancing and other restrictions in place. At present there is no date when indoor activitie...s can resume, but it can be expected that they will also need an action plan and have restrictions to get underway. As soon as more detail is available we will let you know. In the meantime we’re still running the one hour zoom sessions on Tuesday and Thursday to help you stay in shape and flexible. They’re tailored to the assumption you only have three or so square meters in which to train, but you’d be surprised what you can achieve in that space. Current members have an email explaining how to access the sessions. So if you’re getting bored and need some encourage me to to keep training please get in touch. Stay safe and fit, Peter

01.01.2022 Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy as the world deals with the unique challenge of Covid19. For those that are missing training already remember the important thing is to keep up your fitness and technique. Practicing the basics and geksai, Sanchin and Saifa slowly will keep your technique, practicing hard will help with fitness, which you can supplement with burpees, wavelike pushups, squats and sit-ups to get your pulse rate up. For safety’s sake... please try and have a clear space of at least 2m * 1m, which should be enough for most of these, you will need about 2 * 3 for geksai and saifa. If you only have the smaller space try spending a few minutes in shikodachi or nekowashi (both as low as you can with back straight) to build and maintain static strength. Please also stay hydrated, as well as general health benefits it also apparently reduces the chances of the virus establishing through your mucous membranes. It looks like it could be some time before we’re all back together, so please post any questions to this page or the club email and we’ll try to answer them. Please stay safe, look after those around you and wash your hands. All the best, Peter Davie
