24.01.2022 Always evolving, our outdoor areas are a great place for discovery, playing and learning. With plenty of green lawn and hard surface areas children have plenty of space to ride, run, bounce, stretch and roll.

24.01.2022 New Open-ended Toys Invite Imaginative Play We recently acquired some new open-ended play toys. We have a few of the Grimms and Grapat wooden toys which are well known in Europe and have a huge possibility for adaptable play and learning. Playing with these sorts of toys promotes communication, imaginative play, fine motor skills and mathematical reasoning. They are great for the environment as they are a sustainable resource You may have seen these in child caring, educational and therapy environments and now they are Aunty Alis for the children to explore and enjoy.

24.01.2022 Rainy Days Don’t Stop the Outdoor Play Getting outdoors is a great way to learn through play. Between the rain drops we ventured out to the quiet cul de sacs near our house to learn number recognition by way of tracing numbers on letterboxes. My girls were very excited to discover the numbers on the next letterbox and the greenery of the gardens which meant we were able to move along easily. This activity can be adapted to different ages. Some ideas include: 1 naming and ...tracing the numbers 2 adding or subtracting the numbers 3 spelling the number 4 determining which number is higher or lower 4 multiplying neighbouring letterbox numbers So enjoy outdoor play every day

21.01.2022 135NUMBER RECOGNITION AND ADDITION GAMES246 These are simple number recognition and addition games that can be played with children of various ages and capabilities. For Pre-Schoolers/Kindy... Write the numbers 1 to 6 multiple times on a chalkboard or piece of paper. Get your child to roll the dice and count the number of dots on the dice then circle all the corresponding numbers on the chalkboard or piece of paper. For children who have started to recognise their numbers you may want to roll the dice and circle only one corresponding number and repeat until they have circled all of the numbers. For Pre-Primary/Learning Addition Write the numbers 2 to 12 on a chalkboard or piece of paper multiple times. Get the child to roll the dice twice (or two dice ideally) and add up the numbers then circle the corresponding sum result number on the chalkboard or piece of paper. Keep rolling the dice until all the numbers have been circled. It may mean that you have to keep rolling the dice until you get the number of dots on the dice that you need to equal the last remaining numbers. Have fun rolling and learning!

19.01.2022 Afternoon Tea at Aunty Ali Davallia At Aunty Alis place, children will be offered a mix of healthy and simple food to help their little bodies grow big and strong in body and mind. Today we made afternoon tea extra fun by making the children little serving boxes out of paper plates. The children called these train carriages as they had bigger plans for joining them together to make a train engine with carriages to follow.... Little imaginations are fascinatingly creative

13.01.2022 Picnics and Books The kids came home with a little bit of the crazies today. Chill out time with a popcorn picnic and going through our seek and find books has encouraged the kids to refocus their energy in a more positive way. They are showing each other what they have found, helping each other look for items and finding the humour in what they see. The giggles are adorable

11.01.2022 Today at Aunty Ali’s place, we entertained the children by making puppet fairies. This idea came from one of the children in my care and much to their delight we made it happen! Child led activities are a sure way to keep children engaged. My son Brydon models his fairy puppet below.

04.01.2022 I'm always taking cues from the children's interests and encouraging active play balanced with down time. Here are some of the activities we get up to at Aunty Ali's place.

04.01.2022 Our playroom is where we keep most of our toys, crafts and books. Its also where we watch ABC kids or YouTube on the big tv in our down time.
