25.01.2022 How could we predict Victoria is going through similar strict COVID lockdowns as this time last year? Since a long time ago, we've been calling every single ray of light penetrating the darkness as 'end of the tunnel'. With more and more people getting vaccinated, our lovely life will surely return. It is certainly a challenging time. Yet, we are not alone. Together, we endure difficulties and embrace hope.

22.01.2022 With the announcement of the unprecedented Stage 4 lockdown in Melbourne, school campuses are to be closed for at least 6 more weeks. #AMT made the decision to cancel the rescheduled #AMC 2020 of all year levels except for Y11-12 which was already finished or planned. No more AMC this year, but our children should not stop learning competitive maths.

19.01.2022 High school education presents unique academic challenges through the form of examinations, both intra-school and external. In this workshop, students will gain invaluable insight to effective ti...me management skills that will enable them to excel in their studies whilst ensuring that they can still achieve a great work-life balance. 18.01.2022 The most valuable thing of writing is sharing the writer's novel, inspiring and even bizarre ideas. We are often amazed by endless output of ideas from productive writers, yet do we know how they build up their warehouse of ideas? One practical way is save good ones for future use! As Canadian writer Phoebe Gilman puts, "Its very handy to scribble ideas down right away. Otherwise, they evaporate."

17.01.2022 It's gone through the roof! Covid-19 confirmed infected cases soared to 723 overnight. It seems unlikely to rule out the possibility of further and even more stringent measures by the government. Our commitment and speciality is to ensure all students at QE continue effective learning when they have to stay at home. ... In the past two terms or so, teaching plans at QE have been carried out ONLINE regardless the turbulent social environments. More and more parents start inquiring about our online programmes as it's not helpful to just wait and see.

16.01.2022 Good news for Victorian school kids! Today, Education Minister James Merlino tipped school in the state are possibly reopening in term 4 with new Covid19 cases dropped. He also suggested that small group tutoring sessions could be an option for students who have fallen behind during the lockdown period.... Let's hope for the best to come. Nonetheless, QE is ready to help those who need help.

16.01.2022 We feel like sharing this picture. Our children deserve more help from parents when forming their reading habits.

14.01.2022 High school students in Victorian who have an educational background other than English may be eligible to enrol English EAL for their VCE study and exam. According to VCAA requirements, those who seek EAL status must meet the following: Not been resident in Australia or New Zealand or other predominantly English-speaking country for a total period of not more than seven years over the period of your education (and have arrived after 1 January 2013.) This is calculated c...umulatively over your whole life. English has not been a major language of instruction for a total period of not more than seven years over the period of your education. For example, if a student who comes from China joins a Victorian school since Term 1 of year 6, he/she is probably eligible. 14.01.2022 Disappointed for many math-loving students this year that the Australian Math Competition (#AMC)is canceled due to lockdown restrictions. As an expert in math education, QE wishes them the best. The passion for maths should never be discouraged.

14.01.2022 Before you can write like a pro, you need to learn what the pros do and how they do it. That means, you have to READ a lot! Read books, newspapers, online forums and whatever you can read. As author of "Hatchet" Gary Paulsen said, "Read like a wolf eats." Are you reading today?

13.01.2022 Dear Students and Parents, We understand that 2020 has not been your favourite year. Thankfully, we are about to call it a year. We’d like to inform you that 11th December is the end of QE’s term 4. Enrolment for Term 1, 2021 is now open. QE Term Dates of 2021:... Term 1: 30 Jan-2 Apr (9 weeks) Term 2: 17 Apr-25 Jun (9 weeks) Term 3: 10 Jul -17 Sep (10 weeks) Term 4: 2 Oct-10 Dec (10 weeks) Having taken into consideration of various factors, we decide to continue running most of our courses online in term 1, 2021. We hope that normality will return to our life. Yet, at present we have to be cautious for the absolute safety and wellbeing of all our students, given the rampant outbreaks of COVID in the north hemisphere. For our VCE students, we have made due preparations to welcome them back to our on-site classrooms next year. Our further decisions will be based on government polices, and you will be updated in time. Please also be noted that all of 1-on-1 tutoring will be conducted online. 13.01.2022 Even though Stage 4 Lockdown restricts our movements around, information channels online are well open. For educators like us, we are not content about going into hibernation. Last night, our subject co-ordinators delivered two Live-Stream webinars regarding leanring and won lots of applause. Learning from home is so different from face to face, so parents also need to adapt. We're here to help. Many thanks to David and Paul!

10.01.2022 Do you like action movies? Superhero movies? Romance? Horror? This class will explore the different ways filmmakers exhilarate, shock, or build entirely new worlds of fantasy. For the next generation of budding Steven Spielbergs and Christopher Nolans, we will have a look at the techniques that filmmakers use to put their vision up on the silver screen. How does the camera create emotion? What do costumes tell us about characters? How are we moved by music? 10.01.2022 Tomorrow morning, SBS Radio Chinese broadcasting is interviewing a group of outstanding young people from the Chinese community. Three of them are tutors of Quantum Education. They are Isabella, Eric and Tom. On the eve of VCE 2020, they will be giving their insights to questions such as following: 1. As a high scoring VCE student, recall how you prepared for VCE exams and how you coped with the tremendous pressure of VCE? Were parents under a lot of pressure at the time? 2. ...Think back to the last month of the year, which factors helped you achieve the best results, and which events in the process had the greatest impact on your life now? 3. This year's VCE exam timetable has been adjusted: the exam period has been shortened, and the revision plan is different from the usual years. 4. The relationship between VCE exams and university study life, and how to face exam setbacks head-on. If you don't do well in the first exam, how to adjust your attitude afterwards? 7 Nov, Saturday, 7am-9am

10.01.2022 Serenity from inside you is the most powerful heal. Well, it's not easy though. "HEAL" is an award-winning documentary opening a new, yet ancient door to wellbeing. "Every authentic spiritual path has some mention or some teaching around forgiveness. I always say that all forgiveness is self forgiveness, because the resentment I may hold towards another, or the unforgiveness, or the rancour, or the resentment, all of those thoughts are happening within me. Even if someone did... me wrong, I still have those thoughts. Those thoughts are affecting me. They’re affecting my body temple, they’re affecting my blood chemistry. They’re affecting everything. So when I began to forgive, the so-called other person, I’m releasing rancour, resentment, animosity. I’m releasing all the unforgiveness, so that I am actually forgiving myself. Now, that doesn’t necessarily let the other person off the hook for whatever they did. It has nothing to do with them. It has everything to do with me." -- HEAL See more

08.01.2022 Victorians have made so much effort during the months-long lockdown and finally we have come to the end of the tunnel. With "double zeros" cases two days in a row, we are about to embrace freedom again. Kids are now all back to school and adapting, once again, to their 'new' routine life. For years to come, Victorians will be proud about the great job we have done today.

08.01.2022 Next week (18th, 20th, 22nd), the second series of short courses on Miyazaki animation unfold. Japanese animations have successfully created their world-wide brand and continue absorbing people gloablly into their fan poplulation. For students of primary level, watching anime is usually merely for fun. We are going to teach them how to discover meaning.

06.01.2022 Last week of QE's #AMC Daily Challenge 2020. Here comes Day 16 and 17!

06.01.2022 QE is prouldy the exclusive #AMC8 testing centre in Victoria and Queensland authorised by Mathematical Association of America (#MAA). Although it has been difficult for math competitions, AMC8 will continue to proceed this year, online.

06.01.2022 With the official announcement of the timetable of VCE exams 2020, the fog finally cleared for Victorian year 12 students, yet at the same time, this uncommon graduation year will certainly test their nerves to the full. Bearing two- or even three-fold pressure comparing to other groups, year 12s and their parents are urgently in need of psychological support. We are keen to help. We invited educational psychological expert Ms Chen to our webinar platform and successfully de...livered a talk on mood management that received warm applause. Special thanks to Ms Chen! Video clip of the webinar can be viewed via QE's Youtube channel. (Please be noted the original video is in Chinese.) https://youtu.be/7Vh_FfcSBGI

05.01.2022 We can never emphasise enough the importance of reading. Yet reading is not just for the sake of reading - but comprehension. What does 'comprehension' actually mean? The opening paragraph of this Oxford brochure gives us an explicit explanation: Comprehension is the understanding and interpretation of what is read (Griffin 2010). For a student, the ability to derive meaning from texts is vital because it will either enable or hinder their progress in every school subject. Comprehension is generally considered to be an essential skill required in all learning areas (Byers, Jones & Kervin 2012). To be able to effectively comprehend what they read both in and beyond the classroom, students need to be able to make personal connections with texts and engage in critical thinking and problem solving.

05.01.2022 Here comes AMC8! It is today, 5pm-6pm, in Victoria. A different style of math challenges, a new territory to explore. All point to one goal: to build a stronger mathematical mind.... BIG GOOD LUCK to all young ones joined us this year! *QE is the only officially authorised organiser of American math competitions #AMC8 and #AMC10, #AMC12 by #MAA here in Victoria. #AMCmath

05.01.2022 Multilingualism can not be forged without plenty of immersion in the languages one wishes to learn. Many pick up Japanese by watching Manga; some others conquer the most difficult language on earth - Chinese - by following TikTok. For English learners like many of our students, the principle is simple: make sure they soak themselves in anything in English they can reach. Listen more. Read more.

05.01.2022 QE's #AMC Daily Challenge has been a great success that so many children have submitted their working-out. Today is the first day of our AMC training camp and let's wish them good luck.

05.01.2022 No matter what subject you are working on, in Australia, English is the key medium, the agent or the liaison connecting the known and the unknown. Many students, especially EAL students, find math problem solving difficult, mainly because they are deterred by the wordy and sometimes twisted description. To smoothly solve those problems, you should read them as if they were micro stories in English, and then translate them into math language/expressions before they are dealt with like all formulated calculations.

04.01.2022 In the midst of another phase 3 lockdown, once again, our school kids are learning from home. Many struggle fitting in their school classes due to much larger group sizes and comparatively lower level of interactivity. QE excels in Online Learning thanks to its well allocated cohorts and specifically designed teaching plans. Learning must NOT stop!

03.01.2022 Effective communication is the main purpose of everyday spoken English. If the speaker can make the meaning clear and the listener can understand it, then both parties are happy. This is why parents feel so relieved to see that their EL children are able to communicate fluently in English. When they receive school reports, they are often puzzled as to why their children actually quite struggle in English. The reason is that oral and written expression are two very different systems. Colloquial English need not be grammatically accurate, requires no complete sentences nor gorgeous wording. As to written English, all of the above are essential. Practice makes improvement.

02.01.2022 Unfortunately, Victoria is going into lockdown once again. This afternoon, premier Andrews announced that students Prep to Year 10 are going to extend the school holidays by one week so that the government can get more professional advice. But we should now be prepared to return to remote learning. QE has been closely watching the situation of COVID-19 and we believe, before the coronavirus is eradicated, effective online learning highlighted by small group sizes and realtime interactivity is the best solution for students who still want to excel. And that's what we are doing.

02.01.2022 Primary school students reading menu will shape their writing level in high school. Children who enjoy natural science books will give the impression of being knowledgeable, and more "science-oriented" parents will, consciously or unconsciously, be more likely to encourage and guide their children to read more knowledge-packed books. Even, storybooks are sometimes considered impractical. Some of the essays submitted by students in Year 6-7 reflected stories that lacked plot, common sense and logic, and were either too wild in imagination, or too preoccupied with insignificant details, let alone deeper thoughts. Great stories and literature have no shortage of knowledge, fun and thoughtful exploration of human nature, and we should encourage our children to read more of those types of books.

02.01.2022 Storytelling is the key of narration. People simply enjoy stories - all sorts of stories. Fairy tales from around the world are undoubtedly remarkable stories that we have been able to read. As a matter of fact, a number of extremely successful animations on the big screen are adaptations of classic fairy tales that are so popular among audience of all age groups. Being valuable educational materials, fairy tales are highly recommended for young readers. As Leslie and Katie of "Learning Through Literature" summarise, "They enrich imagination, cultivate deeper understanding of lifes great truths, and elevate understanding of spiritual things that can be difficult and complex to convey."

01.01.2022 2021 American Math Competition (#AMC10, #AMC12) will kick off shortly! Here in Victoria, Quantum Education is the official exam centre authorised by #MAA. This year's tests are conducted ONLINE and make sure you don't miss out the opportunity of weighing your math ability. AMC10(Paper A) / AMC12(Paper A) 5 Feb (Friday), 5pm-6:15pm... AMC10(Paper B) / AMC12(Paper B) 11 Feb (Thursday), 5pm-6:15pm Sign up for the test via Trybooking: https://www.trybooking.com/BWMRT A fee of $25 applied.
