24.01.2022 Going on holiday to Europe?, then when you get your camera out you had better watch out for the copyright police...

23.01.2022 Generally speaking of course, I normally see latest technology as a very serious matter. that is, unless I can find a funny side to it! This video does rather tickle my fancy - and - I just thought maybe some others around here might get a laugh from it, worth a try anyway!

19.01.2022 My latest monthly newsletter is now out. You are welcome to view it at the link below. Why not sign up for your regular monthly dose of technical information and historical tid bits at the sign up box, bottom left of this Facebook page.

16.01.2022 One thing that keeps coming up and impresses me the most in the technical news I receive is the idea of TV over the Internet. It's coming and very fast. This in Aust. will probably be the next big thing once the national very fast broadband network becomes a reality.

16.01.2022 Have just published the new Timeline layout version of Aureola Productions Facebook Page. Yes, I realise I have not been posting updates very frequently for some time. My excuse, my health has not exactly been the best for a while, but is now settling down. For some now I have planned to make some big improvements to my services (small improvements are always happening) and also add some very interesting additions. This may take a while, but keep an eye on this space for announcements and be the first to see as things happen.

15.01.2022 OK, so you haven't heard from me for a bit, I confess that I have been a bit side tracked by problems technical in more way than one. For the future, I have plans to post here more tid bits of interesting history and explanations. Keep a watch out and throw me questions if there is anything you don't understand.

13.01.2022 Do you remember as a kid playing around with a tape recorder singing talking etc.? Maybe you remember a tape message from relatives overseas. We didn't think much of it then, but these are now often the only recordings we have of someone when they were young or since past on.

12.01.2022 I was at a business seminar recently themed around whether technology is driving us or is it only a tool. Afterwords I got into a discussion with a lady about her video collection and how she could no longer access it. I was struck that while we are so aware of the march of new technology there is much more being left behind and discarded in the rush.

11.01.2022 It occurs to me after some recent experiences, there is one big problem with the advancing technological onslaught of recent years, it has tended to encourage a very individualistic lifestyle - rather than people working together supporting each other in community. Think about it. We now have fantastic power in these little communication boxes we carry around with us, but it makes us tend to retreat into our our messages and games etc. - very rarely do we need to share a phon...e service with others in the same house. People used to actually go to cinemas for a night out, and to see a movie - now we veg out in front of a high definition home theatre set up. Once the holiday snaps were slides projected on a screen at home (maybe you remember the shots of heads chopped off and many poses of mom in front of the next bit of scenery), now we post them on Facebook - and hardly anyone else looks at them. In contrast I plug for the analog era. Sure the new technology interests me, but I prefer to work with something repairable rather than throw away. And, a way of doing things that encourages a sense of community (be it family or much wider), doing things together and sharing life and memories warts and all. See more

10.01.2022 In the pre digital world, once upon a time, when getting photos together of a wedding and such one just needed to ask the few friends who had cameras out and visible. Now, those photos and phone videos etc. can add up to 100s or more files over half the guest list and spread over the vast net of social media. This now is how it is done, one tool to find them all!

07.01.2022 Yesterday after having repaired my best 30+ year old test instrument (an Hitachi dual beam oscilloscope, go look that one up on Google) it suddenly dawned on me that these were the days when you actually got a decent owners operating manual - and with a circuit diagram! And if this may have been a touch light on the info you needed then you could, wait for it, go and buy a service manual with EVERYTHING you needed to know about said piece of top class equipment. No longer in ...this age of high class digital technology! You are lucky if you get a set of basic and understandable instructions in your language. OK, call me old and nostalgic, but while I do appreciate the advances of this digital age I still much rather work with media gear I can understand, actually see with the aid of a reasonable magnifying glass and work on with my big hands and fingers! 02.01.2022 You know you are feeling your age when your thoughts wander towards the way something used to be done.
