25.01.2022 National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation. The theme for this year's NRW is 'In this together' reinforcing that reconciliation is a journey for all Australians and that we all have a role to play. In playing our part we can collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Isla...nder peoples, histories and cultures. As part of the Aurizon Reconciliation Action Plan we continue to work towards fostering respect between the Traditional Owners of the land and communities in which we operate. To this end we have developed a Cultural Awareness Online Learning Experience for our employees to increase knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and achievements and to foster greater respect among our employees. We have also developed this video, which speaks to what Inclusion means to us here at Aurizon, now and as we move into the future. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhPiKULiN1U

19.01.2022 Two of our employees, Jason and Matt were proud to represent Aurizon at the Clontarf Careers Fair in Perth recently. Matt, Regional Operations Manager from our Kwinana Depot, was a big hit with Clontarf boys as he shared his story of working his way from an operational role through to leading our biggest depot in Western Australia. Matt is Aboriginal, so the boys were able to resonate with his story and career journey and he helped show them that with hard work, they too coul...d strive to be a senior leader in one of Australia's largest rail transport companies. Were proud of our partnership with Clontarf Foundation, which aims to improve the education, discipline, life skills, self-esteem and employment prospects of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and by doing so equips them to participate more meaningfully in society.

In our Brisbane office we were delighted to hear from the organisers of the WOW Australia festival, a 3-day event beginning on 2 April featuring an array of local and international speakers, First Nation leaders, performances, panel discussions and much more Employees from across our business also came together for a panel discussion on how we can truly achieve gender balance at Aurizon. Four female leaders from across Aurizon shared their stories and insights on their careers to date and what they see are the steps we all need to take to advance gender equality not only at work, but also throughout our daily conversations with our family and friends. #iwd #internationalwomensday #eachforequal #iwd2020

19.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day, a day that reminds us to connect and check-in on each other and to reach out for help when we need it. The focus this year is on Theres more to say than R U OK? - how we continue the conversation so that our colleagues, friends and family feel safe and supported and seek the help they need when they are struggling. We all know that we can make a positive difference to someones life by asking the simple question R U OK? However, for some people, the c...hallenge is to keep the conversation going when someone says they are not ok and having the confidence to help them get support. Check in with colleagues, friends and family today and ask them, R U OK?
