The importance of connecting and supporting our rainbow community is particularly important to us this year as we face the challenges of the pandemic. We’re proud to have inclusive and safe workplaces where everyone is respected, valued and can bring their whole self to work.

24.01.2022 Teams throughout Aurizon have celebrated International Women’s Day this week with events bringing employees together with the continued commitment to help create a better-balanced workforce. At our Hexham Maintenance Facility, students from the local trade college and Hunter Valley Grammar School spent the day observing the work the team does on the Locomotive and Wagon Fleet, with staff sharing their insights into the diverse career paths they’ve taken to get to where they a...re now. In our Brisbane office we were delighted to hear from the organisers of the WOW Australia festival, a 3-day event beginning on 2 April featuring an array of local and international speakers, First Nation leaders, performances, panel discussions and much more Employees from across our business also came together for a panel discussion on how we can truly achieve gender balance at Aurizon. Four female leaders from across Aurizon shared their stories and insights on their careers to date and what they see are the steps we all need to take to advance gender equality not only at work, but also throughout our daily conversations with our family and friends. #iwd #internationalwomensday #eachforequal #iwd2020

21.01.2022 Today is International Day of People with Disability and Aurizon would like to say thank you to groups such as the Cooks Hill Surf Club who through the purchase of 2 floating beach wheelchairs allow for people with mobility issues and disabilities to be able to enter and enjoy the water in a safe and enjoyable way. We are proud to have been able to play a part in assisting with this project through our Community Giving Fund. 20.01.2022 Braden started with Aurizon in 2017 as a graduate in Brisbane and now works as a Rolling Stock Engineer at our Hexham facility in Newcastle. "My graduate program experience consisted of four 6-month rotations in the bogie, wagon, locomotive and technical reliability teams. Exposure to this breadth of experience allows you get a taste of what you like before jumping into a full-time position." "The Aurizon Graduate Development Program, particularly the Engineering program, all...ows the development of technical engineering skills and softer skills like change management and public speaking." "As much of a cliché as it may be, I’d say the people make Aurizon a great place to work. Very generous with their time and happy to share information and learnings." 15.01.2022 This week is #RailSafetyWeek and we’d like to remind everyone to stay safe around the rail corridor, this week and every week. Across the rail corridors in which we operate, our train drivers continue to see reckless behaviour by motorists and pedestrians putting their lives and the lives our train drivers at risk. Please stay away from the rail corridor and when approaching level crossings, stop, look, listen and think. ... #RSW2020 #RailSAFE Tracksafe

13.01.2022 National Reconciliation Week (NRW) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation. The theme for this year's NRW is 'In this together' reinforcing that reconciliation is a journey for all Australians and that we all have a role to play. In playing our part we can collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Isla...nder peoples, histories and cultures. As part of the Aurizon Reconciliation Action Plan we continue to work towards fostering respect between the Traditional Owners of the land and communities in which we operate. To this end we have developed a Cultural Awareness Online Learning Experience for our employees to increase knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and achievements and to foster greater respect among our employees. We have also developed this video, which speaks to what Inclusion means to us here at Aurizon, now and as we move into the future. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhPiKULiN1U

12.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day, a day that reminds us to connect and check-in on each other and to reach out for help when we need it. The focus this year is on ‘There’s more to say than R U OK?’ - how we continue the conversation so that our colleagues, friends and family feel safe and supported and seek the help they need when they are struggling. We all know that we can make a positive difference to someone’s life by asking the simple question R U OK? However, for some people, the c...hallenge is to keep the conversation going when someone says they are not ok and having the confidence to help them get support. Check in with colleagues, friends and family today and ask them, R U OK?

11.01.2022 Our team at Narngulu in Western Australian are a great example of how our people are checking in with each other as part of R U OK Day. Take the time to reach out to your family, friends and colleagues and help make a positive difference to someone’s life. Ask the simple question R U OK? and keep the conversation going. www.ruok.org.au/how-to-ask
