25.01.2022 Courtship and mating: When we are coming into the breeding season we start to see the cock bird displaying and prancing around his hen. Other than breeding season normally a cock bird would be hesitant to invade the hens personal space. The natural need to reproduce is though greater than the fear itself. The display from a cock bird is bowing and stretching action and if he is on the bottom of their cage can lead into a jumping dance often around the hen. A bit of showing... off as they say. He will drop his wings and shoulders spread out to give himself a larger appearance to the hen. A bit of a confidence builder for him. The bowing action is to encourage the hen to sit low on the perch. The stretching action as mentioned is to make himself look larger so the hen is willing to adopt the submissive mating position. For first time for breeding hens and cock birds it can take a bit of practice to get the balance act right. The hen has to balance herself and the cock bird on the perch. Once the hen has this correct the cock bird also has to help control and learn his balance. I have seen both birds or the cock bird fall. It does take a bit of practice and have seen a confident hen teach the cock bird on the bottom of the cage first. I’ve also seen a hen buck off a cock bird when she has had enough. In my experience a mature hen is still totally in control of all situations. A long time ago I even had a hen take the position of a cock bird to teach and show a young bird what he had to do. ( reverse roll play ). Which worked well and the cock bird took on his own position again. I hope my experience in courtship and mating of IRNs may give a bit more of an insight into the world of Indian Ringneck Parrots. A rare opportunity of photos taken today. See more

14.01.2022 NOTICE: We have been exporting for over 8 years now to many countries around the world with a very good reputation and give on going support throughout the years. We do have regular return customers as we are honest breeders and sell quality own bred birds you see on our page. We are NOT affiliated / connected with anyone else here in Australia . My name is LEISA LOCKETT and people seem to get me confused with other breeders here in Australia.... Im a passionate breeder and love my birds . I am independent with my exporting and NOT connected to anyone else. Just because people may think someone knows me does not mean I support and can vouch for their credibility. A lot of my overseas customers have been burnt by some other exporters here in the past and I just been told about another. The saying is : If something seems to good to be true it’s normally is . You could be getting scammed, birds not arriving safely, birds died on the way, no parent history of the birds, birds with beak and feather or just not even the correct birds you have paid for. All this has been shown to me or told to me over the years by overseas breeders. My creditability is , I’m a breeder who sells my own birds, have history of my bird’s parents, on going support, I have many Australian Government Health Certificate and proven clear of disease. I’m a member of the Parrot Society of Australia and had The Parrot Society convention bring people from all over the world to come and see our birds. We have Government Vets that work with us here. So why go anywhere else when we can supply you quality, healthy birds with integrity and honesty. DON’T GET Scammed. Contact myself Leisa Lockett See more
