16.01.2022 2020 has been a hard year for all but especially this amazing young woman Kokoda trekker Ella pictured here with her Dad Matt.As you know our amazing trek leader/medic Matt is her Dad and her Mum Gillie is also our amazing Aurora lead/medic. Ella has penned some words below to let you know what is going on and to raise awareness for CRPS on the lead up to "Colour the World Orange Day" tomorrow Monday 2 November. You can show your support by wearing some orange tomorrow legend...s or sending them a message below. A big day also for the Boyds tomorrow for Ella in lots of ways with some treatment going on so let us all send them some orange love 'I suffer from a condition called Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). It is a chronic pain disorder. I was involved in a car accident in May this year resulting in multiple foot fractures, dislocated ankle, torn ligaments of the ankle and bone bruising, as well as 2 brain bleeds, mild concussion, a large haematoma at the back of my head and a 6cm laceration to my head. As a result of this accident I have developed CRPS. In most cases CRPS occurs after a traumatic limb injury. CRPS is basically a malfunction of the central nervous and peripheral nervous system resulting in chronic, constant, intense severe pain despite the injured limb being physically healed. In short words my foot is being a drama Queen and my nerves just don’t know how to be normal nerves. CRPS is rare, little is known about it and there is no definitive treatment or cure. The entire month of November is CRPS Awareness Month and Monday 2nd November is Colour The World Orange Day to spread awareness about this syndrome. Orange is the colour representing CRPS.
