25.01.2022 Happy herd + lovely sunset = peaceful afternoon.

25.01.2022 What a beautiful sunset!

25.01.2022 Putting a little course together for this weekend festivities to celebrate the combined birthday of JB , Sunday and Mateus

24.01.2022 Rain sillies! +=

24.01.2022 Welcome Kaide! Kaide is the newest addition to our herd here at Aurora. Both Shanks and Kim know Kaide from a few years ago when he belonged to a previous owner, it’s so great to cross paths again and see how he has matured. Resident mare Teliah recognised him pretty quickly from years ago, and we can’t quite recall if Duke and Kaide met then as well, but Duke is such a welcoming horse either way, he and Mateus have been keeping him company.

24.01.2022 A beautiful moment the mob gathered aroundJB ( JB has his head on Freddy’s neck) 1st photo. Our 3 horses are very protective of JB. The next 2 photos JB is chewing on Freddys mane Freddy just standing not worried a bit. JB when he first arrived bonded with a quarter horse called Monty an they were best buds playing all day. Monty was only a short term stay an the day he left JB run out into the paddock looking for Monty when he couldn’t find him he ran to Monty’s night yar...d an stopped and just stared. JB that day just stood around alot looking lost it broke our hearts. When Freddy was turned out with the herd JB was straight over to him I think JB sees his old friend Monty in Freddy. They are becoming great friends. JB is very happy to have a new play mate. Herd interaction develops emotionally balanced horses JB is the most chilled out fellow I have ever been around. He is loved very much by us all. I can’t help smile every time i see JB. I hug him every night. By shanks

24.01.2022 Yay! It’s raining! Perfect timing too as the tanks and the dam were getting low.

24.01.2022 We recently welcomed our newest (and most senior) horse to the property. Meet Butchy! Hes been without company for a while now, so meeting the whole herd was pretty exciting, soon hell start having some one on one meet-and-greets to begin intergrating him into the herd.

24.01.2022 The Morgans have been getting to know each other the last few days. Here they are sharing some hay and pretending to have long flowing beards #instantbestfriends

23.01.2022 Hi just wanted to share this moment. This is Butchy (left)the oldest 28 and JB( right). The youngest 1yr. They are keeping each other company. Both have sore legs an are in seperate paddocks away from the rest of the mob an each other. Its a image seen a lot horses standing near each other separated by a fence. It can look sweet and is but it is also demonstrating why we at Aurora run horses in a herd. Horses need other horses the feel safe .They can share affection, joy, th...ey learn of each other the list goes on. Horses are herd animals an never meant to be alone. Horses running together can get injuries dirty have tails chewed fly masks an rugs wreaked. But they will be happy an in the long term emotionally balanced an they become better partners with humans because of it. Horses are our responsibility they don’t have choices who owns them were or how they are kept they totally reliant on us to make the best choices for them. We just have to keep in mind ,are we making the choices for us or them. something to think on . Cheers from shanks. See more

23.01.2022 Thanks to the generosity of one of our lovely Agistee’s (Claire), our golden oldie poo rake (at least 7 years old) can step down from full time work to be semi-retired. Our new blue beauty will take its place, joining with our new wheel barrow (again, thanks Claire) to help keep the paddocks clean.

22.01.2022 Today we welcomed Mizuki to the property. Soon she’ll be socialising with the herd, but for now they’re getting to know each other over the fence.

21.01.2022 Hi all after reading this. I felt it was well worth the share. They have summed up very well the life of a horse. This is why we made Aurora the way we have. A place were horses have a loving caring environment and were it is ok to be a horse. To run, play, get dirty ,swim, make horse friends, grow in a herd and to make mistakes and still be cared for an fed an loved on a place were owners known that their beautiful horse companions get more then just fed and rugged, they get h...ugs , itchy spots scratched , xmass treats an the odd song sung to them. Hope you all have a great new year’s eve.

21.01.2022 After an uneventful in-paddock introduction, Teliah (resident mare) and Sunday are having a girls day in, while the geldings have a boys day out. It wont be long before Sunday will get to hang out with everyone. Letting the horses chat over the fence for a while has paid off.

21.01.2022 Uncle Duke having his first in paddock meet with our newest arrival Freddy. A bit of nose touching a bit of ears flattened. Then of to graze. They are hanging together like they have known each other for months. Duke is a great welcoming horse very caring.

21.01.2022 Resident cutie-pie Jabriel celebrated his first birthday recently.

21.01.2022 One of our favourite quotes about horses. Tom Roberts seems to have been a cool/interesting guy.

20.01.2022 After a night of storms having a well earned rest.

19.01.2022 Welcome Rex! This week we also welcomed Rex to Aurora. He’s such a relaxed and friendly boy, we’re sure he’ll mix in well with the herd. He’s settled in to the routine almost instantly, he calls out to greet us and is happy to receive pats and cuddles. Duke was quick off the mark to make friends and often grazes near Rex’s paddock to keep him company.

18.01.2022 We recently welcomed young Mateus to the property. This handsome gelding wasn’t shy around the camera and had fun racing around his paddock. Before long we will intergrate him into the herd.

18.01.2022 Misty, bright morning with horses cosy in their rugs.

18.01.2022 Now this is self loading

14.01.2022 Resident cutie-pie Jabriel helping me plan new paddocks.

14.01.2022 All horses share a birthday on August 1st! So happy birthday to our herd. They love to go for a canter together when they are turned out from their individual night yards.

14.01.2022 Cold here this morning.

14.01.2022 Feed up time at Aurora. Freddy helping with cleaning out the water trough, Mateus saying hello to Sage an sage doing his best at not being freaked out by the giant nose and Shanks and Mateus sharing a peaceful moment with shanks giving and receiving cuddles. Moments like these the long hours are worth it. Thank you all for allowing us to be part of the lives of these great horses.

13.01.2022 We thought we had planted out lots of seeds to try and grow better pasture in a test corner of a paddock, what we actually did is set up and enormous duck party

13.01.2022 I found this great quote about horse riding.

13.01.2022 Hello, yes. We’re ready for dinner.

11.01.2022 Round Yard Update: Complete!

10.01.2022 Forgive the shaky camera work, trying to get everyone in the shot. We went for a ride this morning and Jabriel followed along, he seemed excited to be out with the big horses, but a bit confused that they werent stopping to graze. Such a cutie.

10.01.2022 We’ve had a break in the rain and the horses are enjoying their grazing time. The dam is full and the stable tank is overflowing!

09.01.2022 Yesterday’s sunset

09.01.2022 Butchy got a visit from Duke, it was all very exciting. Jabriel waited patiently outside the paddock for uncle Duke to come back out and play.

08.01.2022 We recently welcomed young Mateus to the property. This handsome gelding wasnt shy around the camera and had fun racing around his paddock. Before long we will intergrate him into the herd.

08.01.2022 Here we have Butchy, watching over Jabriel. The eldest resident on guard while the youngest sleeps. So sweet to see. Horses in a herd will often take turns sleeping laying down (to get their R.E.M. sleep), with one or two standing up, keeping an eye out for danger. I found this cool horse age chart. ... In human years Jabriel is not quite 8 and Butchy is pushing 80! See more

07.01.2022 Horses splashing in the dam. We have had the dam closed off for a little while, and just opened it back up today, the horses were delighted. The video starts with Duke on his own and then Teliah, Anarchy and new-comer Mateus come and join him.

07.01.2022 Meet and Greet day! Rex has Duke visiting for the first time, and Kaide has Anarchy as a guest. We’ve set everyone up with hay as an ice-breaker and we are poo collecting while we supervise.

07.01.2022 Handsome boy Charlie has joined us here at Aurora for a short stay, while his mum is away for a few weeks. Charlie was a bit shy at first, but he is beginning to warm up to us. I’m sure we’ll be friends in no time

07.01.2022 Mateus doing quality control on the water supply. We got a thumbs up from Mateus so we can now top up all the waters. Don’t know what we would do without you

06.01.2022 Mr Rex first day with the herd 1. Mr Rex checking out the grazing paddock 2. Mr Rex calmly grazing with Miss T ( miss T in foreground) 3. Mr Rex chilling with his new buddies ( Mr rex in back ground)... Be more like Mr Rex ()

06.01.2022 This week we welcomed a lovely mare by the name of Sunday. This lovely lady will also be intergrated into our herd after a slow introduction. Were sure shell fit in well.

06.01.2022 Wild weather here today! We’re so thankful for the rain that fell and the hail that didn’t. It’s still rumbling at the moment, horses are all fine.

06.01.2022 Good morning from Jabriel.

06.01.2022 Jabriel made a feathered friend this morning by sharing his breakfast. This is a Plumed Whistling duck.

06.01.2022 Last night around sunset it was still rather warm, so we opted to rug the horses during our 9pm check, as the forecast still said the temperature would drop. It was beautifully misty when we did go out to check and rug. I tried for a few photos with the horses in the moonlight, but they turned out a bit blurry. Here they are anyway.

05.01.2022 JB ,Anarchy and Mateus demonstrating synchronised grazing

05.01.2022 Thanks Richard for your design skills :)

04.01.2022 We were delighted to have Lla Na join us for a morning ride recently. We took our resident horses out for some gentle excercise down in our free riding paddock. Kim on Duke, Llana on Teliah and Shanks on Anarchy (taking the photos).

04.01.2022 Hello, yes. Were ready for dinner.

04.01.2022 Today we welcomed Mizuki to the property. Soon shell be socialising with the herd, but for now theyre getting to know each other over the fence.

03.01.2022 Update on the round yard.

02.01.2022 Sunday met Sage this morning.

02.01.2022 We do a late night check of the horses before we go to bed, no matter the weather!

02.01.2022 JB loves his uncle Duke. Duke being a good role model demonstrating good sharing

02.01.2022 Mr Duke having a feed of water lollies. Or doing his best impression of the lock ness monster
