23.01.2022 Happy 1st Birthday to Tess and Toby's first litter. Bailey, Basil, Buddy, Bowie, Lewis, Seuss, Ember, Lizzie, Marley & Oakie!

21.01.2022 Today, I feel the need to spread some positivity, so I'd like to offer you this wonderful healthy, free complete and bala...nced fresh food adult dog recipe using ingredients that are easy to source (all from Woolworths). This is a batch vs a single meal. If you're a raw feeder then go ahead and feed whatever you normally do, if you're new to this style of feeding, you'll find instructions under the recipe. 500g Lean Beef mince, raw (90% lean, 10% fat) 50g Kiwi fruit, finely chopped/blended 50g Carrot, finely chopped/grated/blended 20g Red Tomato, finely chopped/blended 1 Large raw egg, ideally free range/pastured 50g Tinned Salmon in spring water 50g Beef or Lamb liver, raw 15g Sunflower seeds, ground/well crushed 6g Psyllium husks 5g Hempseed oil 3.5g Ginger, ground 3.5g Eggshell powder (see under recipe for other options) 2.8g Table salt (see under recipe for other options) Edible flowers shown from Piccolo Farm, they aren't required for this recipe but gosh aren't they pretty. Not all edible flowers are safe for dogs, so be sure to check first before giving to your dog. Red tomatoes are perfectly safe for dogs, do not feed tomatoes that are not fully ripe i.e. green bits. If you'd like to learn how to make Eggshell powder, head here: https://www.peteandgerrys.com/b/diy-eggshell-calcium-powder If you don't want to use eggshell powder, you can swap it out for 200g of Chicken Necks, if you do this, you'll need to increase the salt to 4g. If your dog isn't safe with chicken necks, cut them up or bash them up. If you don't want to use table salt, you can swap it out for 1g of Now branded Kelp powder + 1g of pink Himalayan salt. ? To figure out how much to feed your dog, there are some different ways to do this: Guess - you could under feed or over feed this way but hey, if this is just a one off meal as long as you're not way over doing it to cause digestive distress, don't overthink it. Because raw is around 70% moisture and kibble is only 10% moisture, you'd be feeding a higher weight in food of fresh food vs kibble. Figure out how many calories to feed your dog here: https://www.petnutritionalliance.org/dog.php - This batch contains 1,128 calories which works out to 1.41 calories per gram so, if for instance the calculator said to feed 600 calories you would take the 600 calories and divide it by 1.41 calories per gram which equals 425 grams and that's how much of this recipe you would feed your dog for their total days intake. If you swapped out the eggshell powder for the chicken necks, the calorie count of the batch is now 1,346 which is 1.35 calories per gram. Another way is to use % of body weight, for example, if you want your dog to maintain their body weight you would feed 2.5% of their body weight, to lose weight - 2%, to gain weight - 3% and if your dog is super active they may need 4-6% of body weight. Suck at maths? Use this percentage calculator https://percentagecalculator.net/ Feeding guidelines are guidelines and not rules - they do not take into account your dogs individual a variables so you would never feed them at the determent of your dog i.e. if your dog is getting fat or losing weight you wouldn't stick to the guidelines. For those who want to feed a fresh food diet ongoing, we would generally say feed the guidelines for 1-2 weeks and then put your hands on your dogs ribs to see if you need to increase or decrease their intake. You should be able to feel your dogs ribs through a thin layer of fat. if your dog is a short coated dog then you should be able to see the outline of the last rib and generally no more. When it comes to fresh food feeding, you can make it as complicated or as uncomplicated as you like. Whilst this recipe is complete and balanced to FEDIAF guidelines we promote feeding a fresh food diet using the B.A.R.F ratios where you feed a variety of ingredients on rotation to balance over time...the same way healthy humans eat. If you'd like to learn more about this style of feeding, please feel free to join mine & The Petgirls fresh food feeding group at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/rawandfresh/

11.01.2022 Enjoying the last day of holidays

10.01.2022 The snuffle mat was such a hit with the doggos I thought Id try a snuggle ball. I somewhat regret using the green fluffy material... at the time I thought it would a good idea to use a different texture.

10.01.2022 Fun and games!

10.01.2022 When we had our first litter of pups, around this time last year, Seuss’ incredible human recommended this book. Pukka’s Promise the quest for longer lives dogs. It’s a lovely story, but also holds lots of gems of info about raising a pup with a healthy and happy lifestyle! I actually really enjoyed the audiobook on my way to and from work each day as I am a bit time poor. Highly recommend reading it, such a lovely heartfelt book!

09.01.2022 Hi guys! Im really excited to spend PAWgust committing to walking my dogs, as well as raising funds and awareness for Guide Dogs Australia. Ive been thinking about some creative fund-raising ideas as I didnt feel comfortable just asking for donations. Ive decided that I would like to gift some handmade goodies for donations to the cause including; dog ID tags, cotton macrame dog leads and beaded lanyards with clicker. See the pictures below for examples. Specifics may var...y (eg different clips on leads). I do only have limited number premade and will endeavor to make extra goodies, so please do contact me first to organise the gift and then once the donation has been made, Ill pop it in the post to you. All donations would be directly to Guide Dogs Australia through the PAWgust fundraising link below & I'll pay for postage - as my way to say thankyou. https://www.pawgust.com.au/fundraisers/shaewilliams/pawgust I would really appreciate the support if you feel that it is something you could contribute to! Also feel free to pass this post by, if it's not something that would work for you. Any donations would be appreciated, it's for a good cause. Thanks, Shae
