17.01.2022 The search is on again for a Christmas Edition cover for the December 2020 Aurora Magazine. It can be a photo or artwork but it has to be something distinctively Great Southern, and with a Christmas or holiday theme. It's a great opportunity for local creatives to get invaluable exposure, and a cash prize. The deadline for submission is less than three weeks away, so get to it! Competition details below :)

14.01.2022 Congratulations to the winner of our Christmas Cover Competition 2020 Bronwen Newbury, with her artwork Boxing Day. We thought it was a lovely representation of a beachy Christmas break, which many of us enjoy in the region. If you would like to see more of Bronwen’s work, she has an exhibition opening from 28th December until January 10th at The Old Auction Room in Albany. She is co-exhibiting with her daughter Laura Newbury. The cover painting will be in the show.
13.01.2022 Been cleaning out your cupboards? What's the most 'past it's used by date/grossest/most interesting' thing you've found? We'll start with a 10 year out-of-date jar of Moroccan Seasoning from the back of the spice draw. We're sure someone can do better :D Rules: ... 1. We'd like a pic of the thing. 2. We'd like a pic of the 'used by' or 'best before' date if available. 3. If you don't have a pic, a story is fine. 4. Rules are boring, post whatever! See more
10.01.2022 The advertising booking deadline for our bumper December Christmas edition is fast approaching - we are only taking bookings until 5pm this Friday 20 November! If you want more information or would like to make a booking, pm this page or email [email protected]

09.01.2022 The November edition of Aurora Magazine is on its way. Find us at your favourite pick up point this weekend!
09.01.2022 We are saddened to say we have decided not to publish the April edition of Aurora Magazine. We are a small family business, and so are many of our advertising clients. Very understandably, our ad revenue has disappeared 'in a puff of smoke' this month. That being said, we were also amazed by how many clients were willing to stick with us for the next few months, as a show of support. We really do live in a very special community! We also had to consider the fact that we would... usually deliver to over 200 distribution points - and that feels socially irresponsible right now for a non-essential service. So, we have decided to batten down the hatches for a little while. We may be down, but we are certainly not out! We will be up and running again as soon as the Great Southern and our wonderful clients are ready for business again. Take care everyone.
08.01.2022 Hi Aurora followers. Amanda Cruse here - for those of you that don’t know me, I am the publisher and editor of Aurora Magazine. I have decided to run as a candidate in the upcoming City of Albany elections, as a Councillor for Breaksea Ward. I am a passionate believer in Albany’s future as WA's regional centre for the arts, culture and tourism. I’ll also be a strong voice for young families, small business, sustainable development and innovation. What you see in my paper is t...he way I see our region, and the things that I think are important. I’m still relatively new to Albany, so it’s quite a leap, but I think I have something to offer if I can convince the good people of Breaksea Ward to give me the opportunity. Ballot papers should arrive in letterboxes this Thursday or Friday. If you live in Breaksea (which includes Spencer Park, Collingwood Heights and Park, Emu Point, Seppings and Bayonet Head), please consider voting for me. Here is the link to my election page, where you will find out a bit more about me, and also what I did when I was a Councillor in my old hometown of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. All elections posts are authorised by Amanda Cruse, but I’ll try not to post too much on this page https://www.facebook.com/CrAmandaCruse

05.01.2022 Here is our publishing schedule for the new financial year - kicking off with a gorgeous Spring Edition which we'll distribute just in time for the September/October school holidays! We know a lot of you were hoping for a Winter Edition, but we've decided to wait for a stronger relaunch for us and our advertisers. Taking advertising bookings and story ideas from now :)
05.01.2022 Out of the 10,000 copies of Aurora Magazine we printed and distributed for October, this is how many we got back. About 85. That means something like 9,915 copies were picked up and taken back home, or back to work or the hotel room, and read. Also probably shared - by people who wanted them and enjoyed reading them. Not wasted in countless random letterboxes, destined for the tip, or just gathering dust in some storeroom. ... And after they’re read, they can be recycled. Aurora Magazine is printed on high quality Australian made paper. We have chosen paper that is made from a combo of recycled material and 100% Australian new growth plantation wood (no dodgy cheap Chinese paper of questionable origin for us). Most newsprint and glossy catalogue paper can’t be recycled but Aurora paper can be. So a big thank you to our readers, for making us one of the most prolifically read, and lowest waste publications in WA!!
04.01.2022 Good news if you've been waiting - the Spring Edition of Aurora Magazine is on it's way! Find it at your favourite pick-up point this weekend :)
04.01.2022 We are busily putting the final touches on the December edition of Aurora Magazine. This is a quick call out to anyone who would like us to include their event in the Gig Guide. It can be a gig, an exhibition or show, a festival or markets, or maybe something else - if you're not sure it doesn't hurt to ask! We need the event name, the location, the start time and date. Email [email protected] before noon on Tuesday 24th November 2020.
