20.01.2022 Happy New Year to all Qld 9er sailors and supporters. We would ordinarily be in Perth gearing up for the Nationals and Youths, but as we know it has been a year... like no other and it continues to be a challenging year - our thoughts are with our NSW and Vic sailors and hoping you get back to Covid normal as soon as possible. On a positive note the Qld 9ers finished 2020 with outstanding performances at Sail Sydney. We have a number of new faces, combinations and still some crews looking for skippers and skippers looking for crews, so if you are looking to sail a 29er in 2021 get in touch. This is a first pass at the Qld 29er Calendar for 2021. Dates subject to change and based on the best available information as it stands. The 2022 Nationals are scheduled in Perth and the 9er committee will be looking for additional support form parents to assist in organising transport, funding and logistics - keep an eye out for our first committee meeting.

07.01.2022 All 9er Sailors, Happy new year to All! It’s been a frustrating year, with some sailors able to get plenty of time on the water and others significantly affected by the imposed COVID restrictions and different rules in each state. Whilst we unfortunately had to cancel our Nationals this year, many other State based events have been able to run in some capacity.... It’s also been encouraging to hear that the number of 29er teams around the country remain strong, with many new teams entering the class. The recent Sail Sydney event highlights the strength of the class and fortunately was completed just before another COVID set of restrictions. Whilst it’s anyone’s guess as to where we will be this time next year, hopefully vaccines will place us in a position where we can successfully run a National Event in 2022. The Class association has resolved to run the 2022 9er (29er, 49er and 49erFX) Australian Nationals Championships at the South of Perth Yacht Club, Perth in the same usual time slot shortly after New Year. The event will be run on the Swan River. We will confirm all details in the second half of the year assuming each Australian State has no travel restrictions allowing a National Championship. We will be publishing details soon of our Annual General Meeting, which will be held online via Zoom stay tuned. Regards Chris Manton President Australian 9er Association
