18.01.2022 UPDATE: Victorian Government have clarified the restrictions for service and repair for Melbourne Metro. Routine maintenance is now permitted as a stand alone service for safety purposes only, including for repairs and safety recalls. Repair and maintenance is still permitted where service providers are providing support to a permitted service or industry, or where it is required to maintain the health and safety of Victorians at home or at work.
18.01.2022 **Urgent Update to Advice for South Australian Businesses** The SA lockdown began last night at 12:01am (19 November 2020). In the early hours of this morning, the S.A Government provided clarification on how their circuit breaker restrictions are to be implemented. At this stage of the SA lockdown, businesses offering vehicle repair and mechanical services can remain open for the purpose of essential goods or services. A customer (1 person per household) may only leave hom...e for the purpose of obtaining essential goods and services including "vehicle and mechanical repair services". There is no clear definition on what is an essential good or service. We would interpret that e.g. fitting accessories or general service may not be considered essential. However, e.g. repair services required for an essential worker to travel to work may be considered essential. Businesses should use appropriate discretion when booking in work during the lockdown period. In the spirit of the lockdown if it is not essential and can be delayed until after the lockdown, it should be. AAAA Members affected by the lockdown are able to call our Employer Assist and Legal Hotlines for queries in relation to staff or legal matters and can visit our COVID-19 Resource Portal for additional information.

17.01.2022 We are now one week into Melbournes COVID-19 Stage 4 restrictions. We applaud all of you who have responded so swiftly and responsibly to the mandated changes. Earlier today we communicated to our members that it is now highly prudent for businesses impacted by these restrictions to check they are Stage 4 compliant. 16.01.2022 The Premier of Victoria has announced a State of Disaster from 6pm tonight. This includes a curfew from 8pm to 5am. Victorians can leave home for essential services. To ensure Victorians can keep their vehicles safely on the roads, we are in active discussions with government to include mechanical repair in the list of reasons to leave home. Workshops continue to diligently provide required health and safety practices, including contactless service, wearing masks and sanitisation. We will update workshops as soon as we can. Stay safe and stay posted to AAAA channels for updates.

12.01.2022 AAAA is concerned about reports that Police are advising some motorists that automotive is not an essential service during lockdown in Victoria. The Victorian Government has confirmed that automotive service is essential to households. Our advice to AAAA members is to send an SMS to your customers with the following wording: "We can confirm that we are still open during Stage 3 restrictions in Victoria in line with essential service requirements. The Minister for Police has now formally confirmed that Victorians can engage in movement associated with the service and repair of their vehicle."

01.01.2022 WORKER PERMIT SCHEME CLARIFICATION (Metro Melbourne) We have received questions about the Permitted Worker Permit. Yes these are still required but the good news is, if businesses have issued permits with future date ranges, they do not need to re-issue permitted worker permits. You can edit and add to the dates on the permitted worker permits. More information on permits/templates - www.vic.gov.au/worker-permit-scheme
