24.01.2022 Earlier this week we updated the website and phone apps to a new version! We will put out some new how-to videos soon explaining the new features, but the most important one to note is users will now receive an email when they get a moderator comment on one of their records. Log in to the website to check comments and respond to them!

24.01.2022 Just a heads up, we are fixing some bugs today and our website (butterflies.org.au) will be down for an hour or so at 4pm EDST.

16.01.2022 Have you seen a Purple Copper butterfly?

14.01.2022 If you live in coastal southern Queensland, chances are you're seeing big numbers of butterflies around at the moment. Here in Brisbane we are getting huge numbers of Lemon Migrants (Catopsilia pomona) and Blue Tigers (Tirumala hamata) in particular, but also things like Caper White, Blue Triangles, Pale Triangles, Lesser Wanderers and Varied Eggfly are also moving through in numbers right now. It's a nice consequence of all the rain we've been getting since Christmas! Why not take the opportunity to get outside and record some butterflies with our app!

13.01.2022 Are you joining us tomorrow for our FREE Cairns Workshop? Last chance today to register on the Eventbright link.....

10.01.2022 Thank for the shout out Brisbane Kids! https://www.brisbanekids.com.au/butterfly-migrations-in-br/

10.01.2022 Spring has sprung! How many butterflies have you seen today? You can upload your sightings using our app or, if you have a digital camera, via our website.

09.01.2022 We're on a stamp! Released yesterday, our project has been celebrated on an official Australia Post stamp, along with QuestaGame, Zika Mozzie Seeker, and Ngukurr Wi Stadi Bla Kantri (We Study the Country), three other fantastic citizen science projects! You can head over to the attached article for more details, or https://auspost.com.au//colle/stamp-issues/citizen-science if you want to buy some in a hurry! Thanks to friend of project Michelle Neil from the Australian Citizen Science Association for her hard work bringing this opportunity to reality.

08.01.2022 We are going to have another short downtime for the butterflies.org.au website this afternoon, after which a number of bugs that have been affecting website users entering sightings data should hopefully be fixed!

07.01.2022 I hope everyone is staying safe at the moment! For those of you lucky enough to have gardens you can spend time outside in away from other people, don’t forget to record what butterflies you’re seeing there, like this Caper White (Belenois java) from my garden this morning.

06.01.2022 Hi all, it's been a while! Things have gone a bit quiet as we've entered the slow season for butterflies, but watch this space! Our funding has been finalised, and we are now looking to the future, with the possibility of the project being taken over by an experienced NGO to continue our work. We will release a final report for the project in the near future, and more details on our future plans once they are a little more certain! In the meantime, the website and app should be maintained for at least the next three years, so keep sending us your butterfly sightings!

04.01.2022 Did you see it? Linn's Stamp News recently highlighted Australia Post Collectables' Citizen Science stamps including our own Butterflies Australia stamp! Great to see these stamps winging around the world and creating conversations about butterfly conservation and citizen science. ... HT Australian Citizen Science Association
