22.01.2022 BANG! BANG! Murder, melodrama and Wes Anderson combine in world premiere BANG! BANG! a theatrical dance double-header by two of WAs leading choreographers, Scott Elstermann and Shona Erskine, at The Blue Room Theatre, 26 November to 14 December. A visually striking crime caper, we are swept into a world of saturated colour, playful movement and sinister murder by reimagining Andersons cinematic conventions through contemporary dance. And, in the second work, gunshots at a... ball, evil stepmothers and town gossip feed into a melodrama of three historical Australian women doing what they had to do to survive. Bringing together the best of WAs dancers including Laura Boynes, Storm Helmore, Lilly King, Bernadette Lewis, Zoe Wozniak and Scott Elstermann, BANG! BANG! will leave audiences reconsidering what they thought about contemporary dance! https://loom.ly/oowRdUU

20.01.2022 A timely message for the decision makers in Canberra. There's a very large swell in the current of the ocean of information being provided to the government by our service and advocacy agencies. It is very important that all politicians understand that our sector works with significant casual employment and on a project to project basis. We need a support package that fits our sector.

20.01.2022 A message from The Hon David Templeman MLA, Minister for Culture and the Arts: The Premier Mark McGowan has announced a $159 million COVID-19 Relief Fund to provide urgent financial relief for eligible not-for-profit arts, sports and community organisations. I know this package will provide some welcome assistance and, I hope, some comfort and assurance as we move through the next stages of this emergency and eventually to recovery together.... Lotterywest, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and others have been collaborating to develop a response that takes into account the immediate needs of arts organisations following event and program cancellations, and the ongoing need for the resilience and sustainability of the sector. The details of this relief package are being worked through carefully and more information is available on the Lotterywest website: https://www.lotterywest.wa.gov.au/lotterywest/covid-19. What I can tell you is that the package has been designed to help create some stability and flexibility in a fast-moving and changing environment. We want to work with you to ensure the sustainability of the sector, and we commit to being adaptive, responsive and making the processes as simple and streamlined as possible. The needs of individual artists and unincorporated groups are currently being considered as we review our existing grants programs to look at ways to support the independent sector through this period. We want to support you as you continue to create and develop your work - digital, performance, writing, music or visual - for showcasing through platforms that dont require public contact, until events and public gatherings are able to be held once again.
