13.01.2022 Requirements to get married in the UAE vary between religious institutions, therefore you will need to contact a marriage celebrant to confirm the latest information. The Australian Embassy and Consulate cannot advise you which documentation you will need in order to get married in the UAE, you will need to discuss this with your marriage celebrant. Please note that the Australian Embassy and Consulate do not conduct marriage ceremonies. General information for Australian’s p...lanning to get married overseas, including information about whether a marriage will be legally recognised in Australia can be found here: https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/before/activities/marriage If your marriage celebrant requires a Certificate of No Impediment to Marriage (CNI) please follow the instructions here (https://www.smartraveller.gov.au/cons/notarial-services/cni). The form will need to be signed in front of an authorised witness, which can be done at the Embassy by booking an appointment via email, [email protected], or Consulate by booking an appointment via our website (https://uae.embassy.gov.au/abud/dxhappointments.html). If your marriage celebrant requires a Certificate of Single Status, please contact the Registry of Births, Deaths, and Marriages in your relevant state or territory in Australia to request for this document here: https://info.australia.gov.au//births-deaths-and-marriages. To get an overseas marriage certificate legally recognised in Australia, the document must be authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where the marriage certificate was issued. For marriages in the UAE : https://www.mofaic.gov.ae/Services/Attestation If you want to have your overseas marriage certificate recognised in a country other than the UAE or Australia, please check with that country about what authentication or notarial service they require. For more information about marriage in the UAE visit https://u.ae//information-and-serv/social-affairs/marriage.

12.01.2022 I am an Australian citizen/PR, however my spouse/child is not. What do they need to do to travel to Australia at this time? 1. Apply here for a visa if you don’t already have one https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/i-want-apply-visa (NZ citizens do not need to apply). As it is not possible to submit biometrics at this time, Home Affairs will be in contact if they are processing your visa application to advise what you need to do. 2. Apply for a travel exemption (see apply on...line for an exemption at https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/australian-citizen-or-pe) including as much evidence of your relationship as possible (https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au//evidence-of-relationship.). Please note that the travel exemptions are assessed by a team in Australia. 3. After you apply for an exemption, use the enquiry form at https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au//australian-immigration-en to provide Home Affairs the travel exemption reference number you receive. *The above does not apply to those who hold partner (subclasses 100, 309, 801, 820) and child (subclasses 101, 102, 445) visas, and NZ citizens who are usually resident in Australia. **NZ citizens who are usually resident in Australia do not need a travel exemption, however they must be able to present evidence of residency at check in (https://covid19.homeaffairs.gov.au/australian-citizen-or-pe)

05.01.2022 If you need to get back to Australia but are unable to secure a seat on a flight to your destination of choice, we recommend you book a flight to another city, complete your 14 days quarantine, and then travel domestically to your final destination. Currently Etihad is operating flights to Sydney, and Emirates is operating flights to Sydney, Brisbane and Perth. Emirates will not be resuming flights to Adelaide and Etihad will not be resuming flights to Brisbane. Victorian Pre...mier Daniel Andrews has stated that it would "make no sense" to resume international flights into Melbourne until officials know exactly why the hotel quarantine system failed the first time, with the report due on November 6. Please note that non-nationals are unable to enter or transit Singapore or Thailand except in extremely limited circumstances. Transit services at Hong Kong International Airport are subject to a number of restrictions. Please see Smartraveller for more information: https://www.smartravller.gov.au. For advice on interstate travel and restrictions in Australia, you will need to seek advice from local state and territory governments: https://www.australia.gov.au/states. For international and domestic flight information please contact your airline or travel agent directly.

05.01.2022 If you are flying with Etihad Airways or Emirates in the coming months, both airlines are offering discounted PCR tests. If flying with Etihad (excluding flights to China), until 31 December 2020 the cost of your covid test (if required) is included in your ticket cost. Please visit https://www.etihad.com//tr/all-destinations-travel-guides for more information. If flying with Emirates, you can take a PCR test at a special rate of AED 150 at American Hospital Dubai Media Ci...ty Clinic, American Hospital Al Barsha Clinic and American Hospital Al Khawanij Clinic. Home or office testing within Dubai for a minimum of two passengers is also available for AED 250. Find out more here https://www.emirates.com/ae/english/help/travel-updates/. NB: a test is not required when traveling from Dubai to Australia on Emirates. When transiting through Dubai on route to Australia you may be required to present a test certificate depending on where you initiated your travel. Please check the Emirates website for more information. You can find more information on whether you require a PCR test when traveling on our previous post.
