18.01.2022 AFI’s top 10 tips for fire prevention & safety. 1. Check that all oil & chemical spills are cleaned up immediately 2. Make sure work areas are kept free of any extra mess. 3. Don't string electrical cords across floors where they can be stepped on.... 4. Keep tools which cause sparks away from flammable areas. 5. If temporary scaffolding or partitions are erected, make sure they are made with materials treated with flame retardants. 6. If no permanent sprinkler system is installed, use a temporary sprinkler system in areas where hot work is being conducted or for areas being used to temporarily store flammable materials. 7. Train employees in the different sounds made by the alarm system as well as what action they need to take in each case. 8. Invite external emergency responders into the facility and educate them about hazards specific to your business. 9. Have an emergency plan in place and conduct a full emergency response drill at least once a year. 10. Routinely inspect & test fire extinguishers & check that all exit and direction signs provide correct information, are in place and are well-lit even during a power outage. If you need assistance with any of the above, contact us today to discuss your fire prevention and maintenance requirements. #firesafety #firesolution
