22.01.2022 Mount Barnett, an Aboriginal Cattle Station on the rugged Gibb River Road in the Kimberleys, W.A.was where I first made this Essence. I had been staying their a few days when I was told that one of the elders was going to be showing me some of their bush medicine the next day, which I felt very honoured and excited about. That night I had dreams about two trees. I had been with the elder for about an hour the next day, during which time he had shown me and discussed quite a f...ew plants, then we came upon a Kapok Bush tree, one of the plants in my dream. He didn't say anything about this tree, merely looked at me and beamed a big smile at me. Later on, he did exactly the same thing when we came upon a Bauhinia tree, the other one from my dream. These were the only two plants he did this with. Did they know what I was dreaming, or were they sending information to me through my dreams? As we come to the end of #internationalwomensday2021 in the northern hemisphere, I’ve had a very reflective time remembering the huge impact my grandmother had on me and especially in my work this lifetime. I had the very good fortune of growing up next door to my grandmother and both her as well as my parents properties backed onto National Park bushland. I tried to spend as much time as I could being with her, helping her mak...e her herbal tinctures and extracts and of course going on bush walks with her, where should point out all the plants that she was working with. both her and my great grandmother were some of the first white people to research the healing properties of Australian plants. Unfortunately my grandmother died when I was only 10 years old and I don’t remember the specific healing details of each plant, but I was definitely left with the legacy of realising that in the bush were all these healing plants. I often feel her presence when I’m in the bush, especially when I’m making up the Bush Essences.
