22.01.2022 Grandpa would have been 94 this 26th. I think instead of being saddened by this day now, I can only think of what he would say and the "Lefty way". Chin up, go... out and do something you love doing. He wasnt much about celebrating his birthday and was very humble about it and would chuckle. But on his birthday, go out and do something you enjoy. If you want a "Lefty Day" grill some extra burnt "hockey puck" burgers, have some strawberries and honey, peanut butter and crackers, and if you want to make a toast, he loved a Rose Wine/Moscato (there is more and I know some are going to comment extra side items!) Go out fishing, take some photos, tie some flies, spend time with friends and family, etc. Regardless of how you want to celebrate it, hed still be humble and chuckle. We miss you grandpa, more than you know. All The Best- Sam

14.01.2022 The late Ty Smith, in his office on the Thredbo river in 1996. Ty was one of the great characters of flyfishing, guiding many clients around the Snowy Mountains... in summer and a snow field groomer in winter. Ty came to Jindabyne as an engineer during the building of the ski tube railway. He passed away in 1999 leaving us all with many great memories of our days on the water with him, his ashes were scattered over the Thredbo River, a river that he loved so much. Ty was born in Steamboat Springs Colorado, USA. See more

09.01.2022 Ive been going to New Zealand off and on since 1980. There have definitely been changes to their fisheries and angling experiences. Ive also started to notice... some resentment from locals towards visiting anglers. This is a long article but I think it addresses these issues which are quite complex. See more
