25.01.2022 Enter the world of Australia's incredible seadragons.
23.01.2022 Every year, divers and snorkelers point their torches into the darkened waters of the Great Barrier Reef and Western Australia’s reefs, hoping to witness the annual ‘mass’ coral spawning event where many colonies and species of coral polyps simultaneously release egg and sperm bundles for external fertilisation. The spectacle resembles an underwater snowstorm, with a flurry of buoyant gametes, usually pink or white, slowly drifting upwards in a real-life version of a shaken snow dome. These images were taken by photojournalist Justin Gilligan Photography, who went on an expedition to the far northern Great Barrier Reef to witness the annual mass coral spawning spectacle and to look for ways to help this ecosystem under pressure: https://bit.ly/2VgGDG2

16.01.2022 Wild Australia: After the Fires premieres tonight on the ABC at 8:30 PM, and it's a much-watch program. Following hard-working carers, dedicated scientists and passionate volunteers, we chart the ecological recovery of Australia, through stories of hope, human intervention and resilience. In the year that follows the fires, life slowly returns to the scorched bushlands of Australia. The film provides an urgent message to safeguard our environment and bring about the necessary intervention required to maintain biodiversity on our hotter, more fiery planet, before it is too late.

12.01.2022 When we were conducting fieldwork with Phyllis Wiynjorroc, the senior traditional owner at Barunga, Northern Territory, in 2005 we came across some country that had been burnt off by traditional firing. Phyllis commented that it was nice and clean. To her eyes, a blackened landscape is pristine and beautiful. Such landscapes are valued in many parts of the world.
11.01.2022 Say it isn't so... But a just-launched eDNA project will hopefully help Odonata Outback Academy Australia

03.01.2022 The southern marsupial mole is the animal version of getting dressed in the dark. It’s the no eyes. The comically large claws. The barely-there tail. The luxurious golden coat. It looks like a half-finished Beanie Baby that someone pulled out of the trash and weaponised. A Jim Henson puppet gone wrong.
03.01.2022 This is one duel we just really wouldn't want to be in the middle of.
01.01.2022 It looks just like a smoky, charred piece of bark, which gives it the perfect camouflage while nosing around in its favourite environment the immediate aftermath of a bushfire.
