20.01.2022 --- COVID-19 and Spectators --- Due to the size of the AGC Arena at Sunday's Adelaide Open we will be allowed to have a maximum of 374 people (excluding staff) at any one time. We ask that due to this that each competitor bring a maximum of 3 spectators. ... *head coaches are excluded as they will count as event staff* Our Covid Marshal and Door staff will be doing attendance checks throughout the day to ensure that we meet and comply with our Covid Safe Plans. 19.01.2022 Dear Members of the Australian BJJ Community, Recent developments regarding COVID-19 in Australia. Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced that as of the 18th of March 2020 all non-essential gatherings above 100 persons are to be cancelled / postponed until further notice.... Australian Grappling Championships has always operated in the best interests of the BJJ community and more importantly athletes health and safety. During this public crisis it is our responsibility to ensure the safety of our BJJ community, our athletes and members of the general public. Our best course of action is to post-pone all AGC scheduled events until Government restrictions are lifted and the AGC Team are advised that its safe to do so by our countries governing health bodies. We will be back in your state as soon as it is possible to bring you a safe event. The following events are postponed effective immediately. - AGC Newcastle Open March 22nd 2020 - AGC Sydney Open March 29th 2020 - AGC Melbourne Open April 5th 2020 - AGC Team Series 2 April 17th 2020 COVID-19 Affected Events - Refunds & Credit Options. As a small business aiming to ensure athletes best interests, we have always worked incredibly hard ensure we keep competitors costs down giving them a lower cost to entry, whilst also ensuring the competitor experience is high. AGC will be offering competitors the following opportunities in regards to compensation as a direct result of the postponed events listed above. Option 1 - Full Refund: A Full refund of Competitor fees through original payment methods (PayPal/EFT etc.) We understand that it is incredibly disappointing that our events are not going ahead. We have put an endless amount of time and effort bring you these competitions all the way from SA. For anyone that is able and willing to support us through this difficult time so that we can continue to bring you safe events in the future, we are offering the following. Option 2 2x Free Event Registrations: Keep your registration (No refund) and receive free entry into the next two AGC competitions of your choice (unlimited divisions). If you would like to support us with this option but decide not to compete in our future events you can request a full refund at any time. 12.01.2022 ---- COVID-19 Announcement ---- Australian Grappling Championships wishes to advise that currently until there are further changes and rules set by the Australian Government, that advised today on Friday 13th of March 2020 that non-essential mass gatherings above 500 people are banned. With that in mind AGC will be continuing to operate and run the following Open Series events until there a further restrictions imposed by the Government:... - Brisbane Open March 15th - Newcastle Open March 22nd - Sydney Open March 29th - Melbourne Open April 5th Moving forward this is the steps of action that AGC will be taking: - All Open Series events have been capped to a maximum of 180 competitors. - There may only be 1 coach per academy coaching and supporting their competitors. - Each athlete may have a maximum 2 people to spectate as they compete. - AGC will provide hand sanitizer ensuring all competitors/ spectators and staff sanitize their hands upon entering the venue. - We ask that all competitors / spectators that present with flu like symptoms to not attend and participate. 01.01.2022 The light is in sight and the end of the tunnel is near! Whilst this year has been put on hold for many if not all of us we're excited to be able to make a return to the sport that we all love in the coming weeks/months as restrictions begin to ease. With this in mind we're hoping to make a strong return in mid to late September, running a suit of events nation-wide.... Event formats will be subject to social-distancing and gathering restriction having eased.
