25.01.2022 The Mining Society (MinSoc) is one of the most well established communities of interest in the AusIMM. Its also one of the more traditional ones. With things changing from a strategic perspective within the AusIMM and a greater focus now being placed on supporting the industry as well as members, MinSoc is keen to understand what they can do to support this new direction more effectively while still maintaining relevance to members. WIMnet contains a broad range of technic...al and non technical professionals who come from a variety of backgrounds and locations. This makes all of you a great source of home truths about where MinSoc can best place its efforts for the betterment of all of those who work in the mining sector. If you have a spare 15 minutes, have a read of the article behind the link on this post and share your thoughts through the short survey that follows. https://ausimm.com//the-ausimm-held-up-a-future-direction/

19.01.2022 If you havent yet heard Holly Ransom speaking to Dr Kirstin Ferguson, the creator of the 2017 #celebratingwomen campaign and author of the book about it, Women Kind, take a listen now. Its a challenging yet encouraging and insightful podcast. During the interview, Kirstin talks about why changing the concept of women using a fishing net to take other women along for the success journey instead of a ladder is so important. She also covers the topic of why women often have a ...tendency to avoid bringing gender into a professional conversation as they want to be recognized for their actions and ability, not because theyre female. This no doubt resonates with many of you in our industry which is all the more reason to take a 30 minute break to hear her story! https://itunes.apple.com//coffee-pods-with-h/id1281769860 #celebratingwomen #womenkind #hollyransom #drkirstinferguson #coffeepods #womenrock Holly Ransom Kirstin Ferguson #celebratethewomeninyourlife

18.01.2022 Calling all current and future superstars of mining (which is all of you.... lets be honest.... youre all a star at something!). Very shortly Science and Technology Australias fabulous development program for women in STEM is open for applications for the next intake. This is one great opportunity so at least take the time to read the fine print and if its not for you, pass it on to your network. It would be great to see the mining and resources industry well represented in the next round so we can shine a spotlight on the stars we have in our midst.

15.01.2022 We must foster enabling environments for women to equally participate in the economy! Yet as the costs of motherhood are rising, many women end up dropping out of the labour force. http://ow.ly/3YcF30lwPrq #WeEmpower #EmpowerWomen

15.01.2022 Today is Equal Pay Day, marking the point in the year where the average woman must continue to work until to reach the same pay as what her male counterparts earned in the previous FY. Over the last few years, mining organisations have led the way with conducting pay equity reviews and making changes to close the gap. In Australia, the base salary gap was reduced for mining professionals by over 2 percentage points between FY16 and FY17, a definite step in the right direction. With all the work thats been happening in the diversity and inclusion space in our industry over the last 12 months, the result for FY18 is likely to be positive as well. #equalpayday #equitymatters #womeninmining #rightdirection #diversitymakessense
