24.01.2022 PAYO Scientific a spin-off from Western Sydney University has developed an incubation system that can keep brain tissue alive for 36 hours (up from 12 hours), reducing time spent preparing samples and the number of animals required. In demand by research organisations, the #Braincubator bathes tissue samples in artificial cerebral spinal fluid, continuously filtered and sterilised at a controlled temperature and pH. 23.01.2022 Gelion has developed a safe, low-cost, scalable #battery technology with the capacity to #power the #cleanenergy smart homes of the future. The battery operates with a gel rather than a liquid. The resulting batteries look and work much like a lithium-ion battery, but with greater heat tolerance, lower cost and increased efficiency. The disruptive technology was developed with acclaimed Australian researcher Professor Thomas Maschmeyer of the University of Sydney, who this year won the Eureka Prize for Leadership in Innovation and Science. 07.01.2022 Through the use of AI (artificial intelligence), iCetana increases the effectiveness of video monitoring by solving the problem of data overload, helping security crews to assess and respond to safety risks and threats with enhanced efficiency. A spin-off company from Curtin University, with an initial investment from Yuuwa Capital, iCetana spent three years in commercialisation, readying the software for deployment at customer sites. In 2017, iCetana raised a further $8M. CEO Chris Farquhar says taking time to put together clear documentation for investors, that describes the opportunity and growth plan well, is critical.
