24.01.2022 Today is lifeline's 'stress down day' and we want to encourage you to take part, through meditation, exercise or any activity that relaxes you! How can exercise help with stress management? Virtually any form of exercise, from aerobics to yoga, can act as a stress reliever.... Regular exercise can increase self-confidence, it can relax you, and it can lower the symptoms associated with mild depression and anxiety. Exercise can also improve your sleep, which is often disrupted by stress, depression and anxiety. Scientists have found that regular participation in aerobic exercise has been shown to decrease overall levels of tension, elevate and stabilize mood, improve sleep, and improve self-esteem. Even five minutes of aerobic exercise can stimulate anti-anxiety effects. Not in the mood to exercise today? Try this 10 minute guided meditation for stress instead: https://www.headspace.com/meditation/stress

05.01.2022 Let's talk ankle mobility... One of the greatest rate limiting factors in many people's squat is their ankle mobility. If the ankles are not mobile enough to move into enough dorsiflexion it inhibits the movement pattern of the entire squat.... The Kneeling Knee to Wall exercise is a great mobility exercise to incorporate into a warm-up before squatting. Start in a kneeling position with toes anywhere from 5-10cm away from the wall. Ensuring to keep the heel grounded at all times, shift your weight forward aiming to touch your knee to the wall. Adjust your distance from the wall to ensure that it is a challenge, but you can complete the exercise. Perform 2-3 sets of 10-15 reps on each side.

03.01.2022 Repost from AIF Nutrition Coach student, @_thehealthycoconut "Meal Prep Soba Noodle + Veggie Bowls w Spicy Miso Dressing! . I’m in love with how vibrant this bowl is as you guys know by now, I always try to eat as colourful and fresh as possible! ... For this bowl I combined soba noodles, raw red cabbage sliced, raw red capsicum sliced, steamed broccoli, and cooked (and shelled) edamame beans, topped with sesame seeds. It literally took me 20 minutes to prepare these lunches for the week, so time efficient! For the sauce you will need: - 2 cloves garlic. - 1 tsp grated fresh ginger. - juice of two limes. - 3 tbs rice wine vinegar. - 1 1/2 tbs maple syrup. - 1 tbs white miso. - 1 tbs peanut butter. - 1 tbs sesame oil. - 1/2 - 1 tbs sambal olek (chilli paste). - 2 tsp salt reduced soy sauce. All you have to do is add all of the sauce ingredients into a blender, whiz up and you’re finished! If you are not a spice lover I would suggest just omitting the sambal olek, or at least use a tiny little bit (it’s my fave ingredient ever)! To serve I just pour the sauce over the noodle salad and warm up. Give it a go! "
