08.01.2022 Hi, I am Brielle the founder and director of Auslan for Families. I am a young woman who was born hearing and then during my teenage years I had a quiet rapid hearing loss which resulted in permanent severe to profound bilateral hearing loss. I now culturally identify as a proud Deaf Auslan user. During this transition from hearing to Deaf, I rapidly found ways to accept and embrace my diagnosis and adapt any supports and strategies required to fulfil my natural born potenti...al in a hearing world, Whilst also beginning my bicultural identity within the Deaf community. Having experience within the hearing world and a Deaf world brings with it a unique outlook, knowledge and perspective that in turn helps the clients and families I work with to better understand.
