24.01.2022 The countdown is on, only 9 days to go until the Australian Men's team leaves Australia and travels to Welland, Ontario in Canada to compete at the 2018 ICF Canoe Polo Worlds Championships. After team selection 5 months ago the 8 players and our coach have been working hard over these cold winter months. On the water up to 5 times a week rain, hail or the occasional shine (there was actually frost on the launching pontoon at our last training camp!). Early morning gym sessi...Continue reading

24.01.2022 Over 20 hours of traveling and the Men's team have arrived in Welland for the World Championships. Nice to be out of winter in Australia and into some good Canadian summer weather.

24.01.2022 On the weekend the team completed our last training camp before we fly off to the World Championships in Welland, Canada on the 26th July. Flight cancellations due to volcanic activity in Bali presented logistical challenges with a 2 day camp being condensed as best as possible into a single day. Despite this, a frozen pontoon and near zero degrees temperatures the final camp showed strong improvements from the team. A huge thanks to all those that have continued to come out and support the team as opposition over the camps, from South Australia, Erin Moore, Andrew Adams, Josh Holmes, Anton Holmes, Ian McIntosh, Chris Heard, Matt Schar and Will Polley, and those that flew across, despite the cancellations, James DuBose and Darragh Downey.

23.01.2022 The numbers are finally in, almost $600 was raised at last weeks Australia Day competition fundraiser BBQ. A massive thanks to Peter Shar for generously manning the BBQ through out the hot weekend, O'Connells Meats and Bakers Delight Central Markets for their amazing produce and donations, and of cause all those on the day that supported us by purchasing food and drinks. This a huge help in supporting the team for our World Championship campaign.

20.01.2022 AUSTRALIAN CANOE POLO TEAM - ATHLETE PROFILE Ben Stark has been playing canoe polo since he was a junior after being introduced to the sport after being a spect...ator of his older brother in the local Adelaide competition. A familiar story - a boy sitting on the sidelines and being asked to get in a boat and have a go... He has not looked back since! Competitively, he first represented Australia in U18 at the 2005 Oceania Canoe Polo Championships and went on to compete in the Under 21 Australian Mens Canoe Polo Team at the World Championships in Canada in 2008. In 2011, he made the jump to the Australian Men's Team for the Oceania Championships and has continued to be a squad member since. In 2017, Ben was excited to be selected to play in the first Canoe Polo Super League (CPSL) in Ningbo, China. Canoe Polo elite athletes from around the world came together for 4 weeks and competed in a tournament for the CPSL trophy. Games were live-streamed online for all to see; reaching 1,000,000 live views for the final. This year is looking to be Bens's biggest yet both on and off the pitch! He steps into the Australian Mens Canoe Polo Team for the 2018 World Canoe Polo Championships, and will be joined by his wife Jo and their recent first born child Ruby, Ben's biggest fan! The smiling assassin is fierce on the field and a key strength player for the Aussie men! His best training tips are to enjoy playing and to set a specific goal to achieve each training session so you remain motivated to go back next session (especially in Winter!). 17.01.2022 Yesterday was a big day for our team. We had a must win game against Japan in the morning. Win and we progressed to the 2nd round for the first time since 2012 and a top 12 finish. Lose or draw and we were playing for 13th at best. After an electric game where both sides gave everything we came out the victors 6 - 3. In our first game of the second round we played a scrappy game against Iran who finished first in their pool over strong European teams GB and Switzerland. The game was decided by a goal penalty our way and Luke Holmes slotted it in the last few seconds to give us a crucial 7-6 win Today we play Spain and France and the team is pumped!

16.01.2022 Another great fundraiser for the Australian Men's Canoe Polo team. Thanks CPS Australia. Get behind a great cause and go into the chance to win a great paddle.

15.01.2022 The team has had an excellent few days build up to the world championships. The team has settled in and we played 4 friendly matches against USA, Spain, Great Britain and Chinese Taipei. We won 3 out of 4 of these matches. USA was up first with a great first game for us coming away 7-2. Next up was Spain. After being tied 2-2 with 5 minutes to go the game ended 5-2 Spain's way. On Day 2 of the friendlys we played GB first up coming up with a controlled 5-3 win to us. Lastly w...e played our friends from Taipei. This was a fast a furious match with the final score being 6-5 to us. Thank you to all the teams for playing these friendly matches against us. Thankyou for all our support so far whether this be in person at the venue, back in Australia or around the world we appreciate the love. If you would like to view our games starting Wednesday the times are below in local and Australian Eastern time

15.01.2022 2018 AUSTRALIAN CANOE POLO TEAM - ATHLETE PROFILE Jay Burgess started canoe polo in 2003 as a member of Southern Canoe Polo Club, Dunedin. In 2011 he launched ...straight into the Australian Canoe Polo Men's Team (Team B) for the 2011 Oceania Canoe Polo Championships and again in 2013. Jay secured a position on the Australian Mens Canoe Polo Team for the 2014 World Canoe Polo Championships, Thury-Harcourt, France. This year he furthers his international achievements by representing Australia as Vice Captain at the 2018 World Canoe Polo Championships. Jay's biggest motivator is enjoyment. He aims to play to the highest standard he can and is excited by where canoe polo is heading, and sees opportunities expanding, particularly with Canoe Polo Super League. 14.01.2022 Two tournaments down, one to go. On the 7 - 8th April we competed in the second round of the New Zealand National League Championships in Palmerston North. Another tough weekend with a very tight schedule and not much time to rest. Results from the previous tournament in Christchurch meant that we needed to place top of our pool to have another chance at the top 7 teams. Clinical games in the round robin, coming out with 6/6 wins, gave us this chance to place in the top 7 thr...ough a 5-8th playoff. These games were a big change in intensity compared with the round robin games and resulted in close results decided in the final minutes. Unfortunately we were unable to gain the results we were after and finished with a placing of 8th. A massive thanks to the New Zealand Men’s team and Valhalla for jumping on the water for some extra games against us.

11.01.2022 Thanks CPS Australia for running this raffle, congratulations to Carla Adams, winner of a new CPS paddle, and a massive thanks to all those who participated and bought tickets in support of the Australian Men's team tour to Canada.

07.01.2022 2018 AUSTRALIAN CANOE POLO TEAM - ATHLETE PROFILE Stephen Hubbard started canoe polo at 15 years of age in 2003. He made his international debut at the 2005 Oce...ania Canoe Polo Championships as a member of the U21 Australian team, and went on to Captain this team in 2010 at Canoe Polo World Championships, Milan Italy. Stephen stepped up to the Australian Mens Canoe Polo Team two years later at the 2012 Canoe Polo World Championships, Poznan Poland. This year, he has been appointed the prestigious position of Australian Men's Team Captain. A dynamic, exciting player to watch. His advice to junior athletes - The best canoe polo players are smart and efficient. Ask questions from your senior players and think about how you can better use your skills to influence a game. 05.01.2022 On the 12 13th this month the Australian Men’s team embarked on the final leg of their New Zealand Canoe Polo National League campaign. Auckland would be the final venue for this three tournament league. This tournament showed continued improvements in the team’s defence and a much more aggressive offence. Saturday saw the team complete all its 6 round robin games undefeated again positioning us to play off for the 5th 8th position for both the tournament and the overall ...league. The first playoff against Hawkes Bay Hurricanes was a step change in intensity, unfortunately their aggression resulted in a loss of 4 6. The final 2 games were against Tu Kai Taua. The first team we played in New Zealand would be the last team we would play in the league. Both games were great to play, hard fought and tight. While tight we were able to edge out Tu Kai Taua in both games to reach a final placing of 7th overall in the league. Competing in the tournament has been an invaluable experience for the team. The opportunity to compete against different high level teams with the convenience of returning home between tournaments is something that we could not have achieved elsewhere. We hope this league continues to grow and we can continue to be a part of it. Over the tournaments we have been lucky enough to receive help from various players, family and friends. We would like to say a massive thanks to Anthony Nicholls and Nikky Lee for allowing us to stay at their lovely home for the weekend, restate our thanks to Thomas Bolton for lending us his car in Christchurch and thank everyone else who has offered support and help throughout the league. The overall hospitality of the New Zealand canoe polo community has been overwhelming and we hope that we can reciprocate this kindness if any players or teams adventure across to Australia.

04.01.2022 The Australia Day competion is not far away. The Australian Men's Canoe Polo team will be running a fundraiser to help get us to the 2018 world championships in Canada. Bring your cash, enjoy some BBQ food and drinks and help support the squad. See you all there.

01.01.2022 1 week to go till Australia Day competition at Mawson Lakes. Come watch some canoe polo while enjoying a BBQ and drink.

01.01.2022 On the weekend the Australian Men’s team started their campaign by competing at the first of the three tournaments in the New Zealand National League Championships in Christchurch. Over the 10th 11th March we competed in 6 round robin games and 2 playoff games in a strong 14 team A-grade competition. Red eye flights and minimal sleep placed additional challenges on the team. A tight and fierce round robin saw us fall just short of making the 1st 4th playoffs, placing 3rd ...in our pool. The 5th 8th playoffs presented a string of tough games and saw us in a final position of 8th. These were the first 8 games that the team has played together and we fought hard and as a team in each. A massive thanks to Thomas Bolton for lending us his car for transport for the weekend and a huge thanks to all those at the competition that welcomed and supported us. We look forward to seeing you again in Palmerston North on the 7-8th April for the second tournament.
