25.01.2022 "When whales were at their historic populations, before their numbers were reduced, it seems that whales might have been responsible for removing tens of millions of tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere every year."

25.01.2022 WINTER BY THE SEA - ON DEMAND While the Winter by the Sea program has now finished I am pleased to let you know that many of the online sessions were recorded a...nd can now be accessed online at https://www.parks.vic.gov.au//volunteeri/winter-by-the-sea. From the feedback received from participants the program has made a positive contribution to staying connected with Victorias marine and coastal environments, particularly during COVID isolation, and has a lot of potential for future years. This program would not have been possible without the many contributors to the program who have generously shared their knowledge and passions for Victorias marine environment with us. Many thanks to all those that contributed and to all of you that joined us.

24.01.2022 I might say I heartily recommend this Time magazine issue with its feature article "Turn the Tide". However I have to go further, if you care about the future of the world and for the life that we love, I have to urge you to get a copy and read it for information on land, air and sea in this issue. Thats big coming from me, telling you to read it, as I find myself absolutely overwhelmed and regularly refuse to read anything more than a para or two. Take the time and get a hold of Time Vol 196

21.01.2022 The Healthy Land and Water Clean Up Program crew recently discovered a large litter hot spot in the mangroves at Indooroopilly as a direct result of the progr...am receiving additional funding from the Australian Government. 15.01.2022 At Biopixel we pride ourselves in visualising complex biological processes. Here we can see for the first time time lapse at a macro scale coral bleaching. The ...golden brown dots are individual zooxanthellae algal cells being expelled from the coral polyp through the mouth. This doesnt mean the coral polyp is dead just stressed. If the stresses decrease the zooxanthellae can recolonise the coral polyp. Footage like this is invaluable to educate the public about coral bleaching and the health and welfare of the @gbrmarinepark. . #thisisqueensland #visitqueensland #queensland #australia #greatbarrierreef #seeaustralia #exploretnq #uwcinematography #citizensofgbr #gbrfoundation #scubadiving #reddigitalcinema #gates.underwater #oceanview #fortheearth #onlocation #divequeensland #underwater #diving # marinelife #wildlifephotographer #underwaterphotography #coral #jamescookuniversity

13.01.2022 Since our posts on illegal fishing and poaching throughout the last week, some people have expressed a lack of clarity as to where the Ricketts Point Marine San...ctuary boundaries are. I just happened to bump into the Legend, Raymond Lewis, this morning near the Beaumaris Yacht Club and he graciously allowed me to video him in this short and clear explanation.
