22.01.2022 Thanks to ANCA National - please check out our upcoming webinar series! Dear ANCA members and singing enthusiasts, It was great to see so many at our first Webinar on the weekend. Darren Wicks talked through some of the research behind vocal warm-ups and why we do them. He gave many ideas and exercises to put in our toolbox as we launch into singing this year.... Our 2nd Webinar is just around the corner. On Sunday February 28th, Michael Barrett will be zooming in to us all the way from Praetoria, South Africa, to talk about Mental and Vocal Readiness for the Choral Rehearsal. You may have heard of Michael's beautiful Tuks Camerata choir. If you haven't, click on the links below to have a listen. In the Webinar, 15 different strategies will be presented in obtaining mental and vocal readiness in the choral rehearsal, especially aimed at the amateur choir. This webinar discusses the choral warm-up, the importance of planning meticulously, body mapping, and how to think on one’s feet. Engaged singers, planned social time and tools needed to refocus singers will also be discussed. Click here for more details on the Webinar and to register: https://choralfest.org.au/mental-and-vocal-readiness-for-t/ We look forward to seeing you online on Sunday February 28th. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0r98xp8aI0 https://www.goodthingsguy.com//sa-choir-joins-20-countrie/

We understand that a complaint has been lodged with the ACNC and they will investigate in due course.... In the ongoing interests of ANCA, we request that you do not repeat or pass on unofficial information about the ACNC complaint. National Council will keep you up to date with the outcomes of this process.
16.01.2022 Hello Choral Community! With the welcome lifting of the hard lockdown in WA at 6:01 pm on Friday 5th of February we are getting enquiries from choirs about restrictions on rehearsing in the transition period to the 14th of February. Our interpretation of the currently advised health guidelines with respect to choir rehearsals (and performance) over this period is as follows:... - If you rehearse in a private residence you must not exceed 20 people and you do not need to wear masks indoors. - If you rehearse in a public venue/hall/room/facility then you must comply with the one person per 4 square metre rule (or 150 people, whichever is less) in determining how many people can attend and you must wear a mask at all times. Such venues should have SafeWA QR codes and all singers should register or sign in. - If you rehearse in an outdoor location you must wear a mask at all times. No doubt we’ll all look forward to the 15th of Feb a great deal! Happy singing!
