25.01.2022 When you find a market for your product and that market values your contribution as an artist, and you help your market understand the impact of your art, you build a secure market. That is secure funding. That is secure money coming in. It is recurring funding, because all you have to do is to continue to create the art and let your market know that youre producing more of the thing they value. Grant funding is NOT security for your small business. Getting that funding onc...e is no guarantee that you will get it again. On the other hand, knowing that you made a customer happy is a guarantee that that customer will come back when they have that need again. Of all the things that you can do to increase revenue, focusing on sales is the most importantnot funding, but sales. Get more sales. - No More Starving Artists - John Paul Fischbach Want to know read more? Grab a copy now! https://auspiciousartsincubator.org/no-more-starving-artis/

25.01.2022 We are excited to introduce our latest Spotlight Artist, Sara Catena. Sara was raised on a wonderful diet of traditional handcrafts, imagination and pots of tea in a small country town on the coast of New Zealand. Her parents valued resourcefulness and taught her a deep sense of caring for land, community and creativity.... As a painter, she works with acrylic, oil stick and embroidery thread on recycled textiles and linen. She loves to work beyond the boundaries of the traditional frame by adding timber and textile embellished features or working directly into a physical space...delighting and calling the viewer to linger over the story, and be rewarded emotionally in doing so. "My work reflects my desire to find and maintain 'Radical Joy' in a world that constantly tries to dumb down our full authenticity" You can find out more of Sara's magnificent work, visit: Website: https://www.saracatena.com/ Instagram: @saracatenaart Facebook: Sara Catena Art YouTube: Sara Catena http://auspiciousartsincubator.org/courses.html If you are ready to take your arts practice to the next level and you are willing to take responsibility for your own success, apply for a through application by clicking: https://auspiciousartsincubator.activehosted.com/f/43

22.01.2022 Revenue vs Expense Managing the finances of your business comes down to managing two things: revenue and expenses. Revenue is the money coming in. Expenses are the money going out. The goal of your small business is to increase revenue and reduce expenses. What can you do to increase your revenue? With every month, every product, every concert, every show? Ask yourself, What can I do to increase my revenue? Can you raise your price? Almost 90% of the time, the answer is YE...S! Once you understand the impact and the value that you deliver, chances are that you can raise your price. Because youre in the emotion business, the price for your cool, awesome emotional experience is quite elastic. There arent many places people can go to get a similar experience. Once they understand the impact, the value, and the benefits that you deliver, if they have the money, the desire, and most importantly, if they have the need, they will pay the price you ask. - No More Starving Artists - John Paul Fischbach Want to know read more? 21.01.2022 Take care of the most important person in your business

20.01.2022 We are excited to introduce our latest Spotlight Artist, Markus Neal Humby. He is currently working on a large commission and a series of landscapes from Bruce Peninsula in Ontario, Canada.... He decided 2 and a half years ago to finally become a full time artist and began to work on his Prince Edward Island series after visiting the island for the first time. This was followed by his Sunrise series where he painted plein air to study the rapidly changing light of new days dawning. Recently, 20 pieces of his work were accepted at a new gallery featuring Native and Canadian art. He is passionate about portraying fleeting moments whether it's the changing light of day, a person walking on a beach, a glimpse of a deer by the edge of a forest. Moments that must pass but are significant and leave an imprint in his mind's eyes. If you want to know more of Neal's journey and his amazing work of art, visit: Website: https://markusnealhumby-artist.com/ Instagram: @markusnealhumby Facebook: @Nealhumbyartscanada https://auspiciousartsincubator.org/ If you are ready to take your arts practice to the next level and you are willing to take responsibility for your own success, apply for a through application by clicking: https://auspiciousartsincubator.activehosted.com/f/43

19.01.2022 This is the normal price, but if you want access to behind the scenes, attend rehearsal, backstage tour, there is a premium price. If this is the only chance people have to experience your art, then you can charge more. That is the principle of Premium Pricing. There can be various things you add to create premium pricing.... We have taught a lot of visual artists to offer premium pricing for framing, installing and lighting their artwork. Nobody understands better than you the play of light on your art. You can charge for coming and installing the art. Another premium pricing opportunity is when there is a limited supply of your product. If this is our only concert, your only time to perform in this region and it will only happen for this one night, you can increase your price. If there is a limited supply, customers will understand and pay more. Think about premium pricing for your work. Youre in the arts business, and the arts business is the emotion business.. You dont generate thousands of experiences, you generate a small number of very intimate experiences. Also think about how you EXCEED EXPECTATIONS. Once youve set your price and delivered the art, take a moment and reflect on how you exceeded the customers expectations. Knowing this gives you price leverage. Your market might have expectations that they just simply want to buy a work of art, and thats it. However, once you start to exceed expectations and build a relationship, you can help them see more value and appreciate the price you charge. Do you share the story behind the art? Do you stay in touch after sale? COMMENT DOWN BELOW #artistsinbusiness #artistsmarketing #marketingforartists #successfulbusinessforartists #artists #helpforartists See more

18.01.2022 This week is another re-release of an older Hot Tip. It's been an important message for a few artists coming in and working with us recently, so we thought it was time to remind the rest of you as well! "You can manage the crazy highs and lows of being an artist. If you take Tracy Margieson's advice you will find your peace within this rollercoaster of experiences."

17.01.2022 Mindset check-in

17.01.2022 The number one thing that moved my arts businesses to success was working with a coach. Athletes and classical musicians have coaches. We know from those disciplines how valuable a coach is and how a coach can help improve performance. However, independent artists rarely take on a coach to help grow their business. I find this odd. Many small businesses and entrepreneurs use coaches. Perhaps the reason we don’t use coaching help is that we don’t think of it, and there aren’t... very many arts business coaches. The external perspective of a trained arts business coach is invaluable for helping you navigate the specific hurdles that inevitably arise along the journey of building your arts business. - t, Grab a copy of No More Starving Artist book here: https://auspiciousartsincubator.org/no-more-starving-artis/ Don’t forget to tag your artist friends and family who might need this.

17.01.2022 Its important for you to understand whats involved in pricing your art. Help your customers appreciate the value you deliver. Help yourself understand, measure, and manage the numbers to make sure that the pricing for your product or service is desirable, reasonable, acceptable, and achievable.... Heres a very simple formula (please see image below) to help you understand the principle of pricing your work, which can generate the income you need. This isnt a hard and fast formula. It doesnt work for every artist and every art product or service, but it covers the fundamental principle of pricing your work. - , If you want to know more about Pricing your Product or Service, grab a copy of s book here: https://auspiciousartsincubator.org/no-more-starving-artis/ Question: As an artist, what are your challenges when pricing your products or services? We would love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

15.01.2022 PLANNING FOR SECURITY At some point, you must accept the responsibility of planning for the security of your arts business. There are really four kinds of insurance that I think you should be aware of. 1. Public Liability - this covers the interaction between your business and the public.... 2. Employees and volunteer cover - this insurance covers the interaction between your arts business and your volunteers or your employees. 3. Property, good, and equipment - your business might use expensive equipment. You might need to transport expensive equipment. 4. Professional Indemnity - this insurance is something that you should consider if youre incorporated or in the not-for-profit sector. - No More Starving Artist, John Paul Fischbach If you want to read more, grab a copy of No More Starving Artist book here: https://auspiciousartsincubator.org/no-more-starving-artis/

14.01.2022 Manage Your Money Managing your money is just a new skill like any other. Being able to track and measure your money is just a skill that you dont yet have. Well, just learn it. Get some help if you need to. Youre only going to need short-term help. Its not rocket science to learn how Excel helps you to set up a simple system of tracking and entering your data and adding up a column of numbers. Creating an Excel spreadsheet is just a new skill to learn. In running your art...s business, you must be aware of your finances. You must be able to look at what it has cost you to be an artist this month and figure out what it will cost you next month. You must be able to compare the money that you spent with the money that you earned. You must be able to understand a budget and build a budget. This is your new learning curve as an artist in business. Managing your money uses skills in a part of your brain that may be underdeveloped. Well suck it up, get over it, and start working out. The first step is financial tracking. - , If you want to learn more about, grab a copy of s book here: https://auspiciousartsincubator.org/no-more-starving-artis/

05.01.2022 Equinox balance and money

04.01.2022 ! All of the structures have been disrupted. Independent Musicians and Writers have taken back the power from the labels, Visual Artists can reach their customers without galleries and Performing Artists are building audiences outside of mainstream venues. We are living at an interesting time when artists can choose to play "inside the system" and get recognition and validation from the established order and be entrepreneurial and set up their ar...t as business operating on their own terms with their own measures of success (Although, we do have a bias towards taking control of your art and creating a business.) What is the ? If you ever wonder, who and why is this business created. Check out this video! We're here to help. We are continuing to develop courses and opportunities to support independent artists in building sustainable businesses from their artistic practices. 02.01.2022 It's not what you do that's interesting

01.01.2022 Plan the work, then work the plan Planning shifts you from being reactive to being proactive. Some of us feel that our careers are in the hands of the fates. Its up to destiny whether were going to be successful or not. We become very good at being reactive. I spoke to an artist just the other day whose life was going along merrily, because she had seized an opportunity to create murals in schools. One day the Provincial Arts Council announced that they were changing the f...ocus of their funding. She was suddenly out of business. Planning would have shifted her arts business from being reactive to proactive. When you create a plan, your conscious mind understands what it will take to get there. And your subconscious mind helps you notice and recognize all the resources the plan will require. - , If you want to learn more about, grab a copy of s book here: https://auspiciousartsincubator.org/no-more-starving-artis/
