21.01.2022 Showcasing some of our great Sellers next week at the Australian Record Fair! Here are Murray and Natalie talking about their stock on offer over the 3 days.. Question: Your table is for the Friends of Lyn and Truda?... M & N : Yes. Both women are widows who want their husbands' collections sold off. We are the friends who are helping that happen. Think of this as a direct-to-you decluttering because living on a benefit is not fun. Question: Ok - what's on offer? M & N: Mainly single owner LPs from the 1970's. One owner's taste started with Australian folk and prog rock and was influenced by record shop owners pushing new releases onto him; then he met a girlfriend who was into post-punk. The other stories are a film buff on a budget who spent too much time in Jaycar, and our own desire to remove duplicates and curiosities from our own household. Question: What's the most expensive item on offer? M & N: A gift from the heart- an unplayed Missing Link Records first pressing of the Go-Betweens Send Me a Lullaby. Closely followed by various Bowie LPs, and albums by Chain and Spectrum. Or you can buy the entire Sherbet discography. Question: What's do you have for the bargain hunters? M & N: Some $1 CDs and all our mis-pricings because we are amateurs at this. We're here to help our friends, and all those discogs pages of variant pressings of Doors LPs just make our head spin. Question: Why should audiophiles be interested in what's on offer? M & N: The Lyn collection in particular has been very well looked after. We've put many through the Nitty Gritty cleaner and to our delight the overall picture is one of occasional light crackle and rare pops but not scratches. For the perfectionist there's still scope to put them through your ultrasonic cleaner. There's lots of Australian music from the 1970's but it's mostly mainstream rock. You'll be able to fill in gaps in your collection quite nicely. Question: What payments do you accept? M & N: Cash or paypal please. Friends of Lyn and Truda is a not-for-profit so we don't have card facilities. Question: And whos behind the table? M & N: Murray and Natalie. This is our first time at the fair. We're looking forward to it.
