22.01.2022 My Putting Routine. Feed myself info on the pace. This may start as I’m approaching the green. Guestimate the apex. Even on shortys. I visualise a tee parallel to (or behind) the hole. Control my breathing.... Aim-Look-Pull Trigger... I remember Padraig telling me just after he won the Open that he try’s to accept the result before pulling the trigger. When you know you’ve done everything you can to hole a putt it’s much easier to be good with the result. 18.01.2022 Course Management- Legs What are you hitting here? My best piece of advise is to play the hole to the best of YOUR ability. Don’t divert or get sucked into the shot shape if it’s not in your arsenal. I’m on the 3rd @mooreparkgolf. It’s 230 to the bunker and 240 to run through the rough. If you can only hit cuts and drive it 250...Well yeh don’t hit the D. Also most people don’t know there carry distance with driver, book a @flightscopegolf session with me. ... 09.01.2022 STOP PINSEEKING (Get better at LAG Putting) For amateurs that are having a lot of 3 putts, you should be doubling down on your distance control. Once you feel comfortable rolling the rock from 30-40 you can safely fire to the heart of the greens on your approach shots.... Go back and watch final round at the Masters for inspiration. Pick your pace before line. Look at the during your practice strokes. Feed your body the right info and nail your routine. Make your last look from target to ball smoooooth. You should be thinking how hard to ‘hit’ the putt. See it. Roll it! Hit it solid with consistent tempo (using the Blu TAC drill) practice even without a target. Sitting next to my mate @totalshankers we discussed life, the possibility of getting back into the industry and the fact this pretty sweet job offer came up that allowed me to create in a authentic environment. 05.01.2022 The Follow through One thing I like to see in my students is a solid follow through. Post impact I can pretty much tell what level a golfer is at. At waist height I like to see the butt of the club further away from your body with nice width (shoulder to clubhead). 01.01.2022 Club Selection/Chipping Want to save some shots? Try upgrading your chipping ‘strategy’. What I’ve noticed giving so many playing lessons lately is the uncertainty of shot selection around the greens. Obviously the odds of executing are going to be diminished if you have doubt. So practice, find what works (for you) and be decisive in your think . In this photo my ball is sitting down. It’s all downhill to the pin with a tier behind the flag. Picking the right shot i...s even more important than execution here. Check your lie. This dictates what shot you can play. Read the green/situation. Access the grass to green ratio. Say you have 40 metres and it’s 20 to the green you will need more loft. If I was 10 metres closer I could play with Lower loft. Be Decisive/commit. Pick where you want to land the ball. Make sure your practice swings mirror the length of the swing you want to use. Look for rhythm and feel. Until you have practiced with a wide array of clubs, go with your most comfortable. For me it’s my 50/50 back foot SW. Try to consistently pick the club that gives you best chance of success. Learn the bump and run to bail you out (bad lies). Late afternoon try dropping a few balls down and using all of your scoring clubs. Lw, Sw,Pw,9,8 etc throw in your putter and hybrid. After you have practiced and have a few more options keep it simple. Practice marrying carry and roll with a wide arrange of wedges and feed your mind info. Your feel around the greens will improve.
