25.01.2022 FACE COVERS TO BE COMPULSORY ... Finally, it is compulsory to wear mouth masks while leaving the house, though they did announce it as 'Face Coverings Mandatory For Melbourne And Mitchell Shire'. The enforcement starts from midnight tomorrow, with a $200 fine for not wearing a face covering. I know for sure that some people will wear scarves or helmets, just to spite the enforcers, mainly the cops. As for me, I have been using surgical-masks since weeks ago, especially when u...sing the public transport services. But then, I usually travel to work on off-hours, so lesser chance of even meeting people. #COVID19 #CoronaTimes Till then, stay apart, stay safe, USE MASKS. See more
19.01.2022 EAST MELBOURNE NIGHTVIEW ... Forgive me if this is blurry or grainy. It was a stolen shot, from a height which would have been impossible for me at any other time. This height would even be impossible for many. In fact, this skyscraper is so high that the cell reception on top floors is poor. Because on this flat city, cell towers are usually on the earlier-built low rises. It is almost midnight, yet the city never sleeps.
14.01.2022 LOCKDOWN 2.0 FOR MELBOURNE ... So there has been a spike in positive cases in Victoria state, namely in Melbourne area. And there are many cases of community transmissions that has been linked to the Quarantine Hotels. Thus we are back to stage 3 lockdown for 6 weeks. We can only leave home for essential shopping, care and caregiving, exercise and work or study that can't be done from home. Wearing masks, social distancing, hand washing, etc are back in fashion. Malls are emp...ty, streets empty, lesser commuters on the road, and more tiktoks uploads. I am reminded of how efficiently quarantine center management and boarder patrolling is happening in Bhutan. This is exactly why we have ZERO community transmission. But I should say that people congregating in public places will also pose a serious risk for transmission. The public SHOULD practice caution, after all prevention is better than cure. See more
08.01.2022 WORKING WITH CHILDREN CARD WWCC is a requirement for anyone who works or volunteers in child-related work, like in schools, childcare, child protection services, and healthcare professionals in a hospital paediatric ward. I got mine after applying online, verifying and paying the fees. What essentially happens after you apply is, a background criminal check is conducted in all states and territories, across your lifetime, including serious sexual, violent and drug offences y...ou have previously been charged with, regardless of the outcome of those charges. It involves a National Police Check (criminal history record check) and a review of reportable workplace misconduct. The outcome of a check is either a clearance to work with children or a bar against working with children. ... https://www.workingwithchildren.vic.gov.au See more
04.01.2022 ASIAN STEREOTYPES So someone asked me recently whether I knew Kungfu or not. Not to be outdone, I answered yeah, I do know Kungfu and Taekwondo. I am glad they didn't ask for a demo, else I would be caught lying outright. I also get asked whether we eat ducks or not. Mmmmmm....I would eat them, but we usually don't. No seafood too. But we do love pork and beef. Aren't you a Buddhist country? Yes, we eat meat. We just don't kill animals. Someone else does the killing.... Another thing I get asked a lot is whether Bhutan is under China. or India. or Nepal. So, I firmly reply. NO. I guess I shouldn't converse with Indians in fluent Hindi, nor with Nepalese in fluent Nepali. But I can't help it. As they themselves noted, I speak like a native. My years of practice hasn't let me down. The next language to learn is definitely Mandarin. And here is the result of my COVID19 test, where a cotton swab was literally inserted in my mouth to reach the back of my throat, followed by similar treatment inside each nostril. Teary-eyed I held on to the steering wheel. And the result is NEGATIVE.
03.01.2022 KATHMANDU IN AUSTRALIA ... When I was back home, Kathmandu was only known to me as the capital of Nepal, the neighboring Himalayan country. But now that I am I here, Kathmandu is a New Zealander brand which sells outdoors cloths. So last week while I was at their local store to pick up my orders, the guy at the counter while punching up my membership application, looked up my passport and was wowed that I was from a country in the Himalayas. He introduced me to another guy f...rom the actual Kathmandu. We chatted for a bit in Nepali. Anyways now I am the proud owner of a rain jacket and a backpack from their store. Of course both were on sale and I got a heavy discount ...lol. ... Link https://www.kathmandu.com.au/
