19.01.2022 Kia ora hi Namaste from the kindergarten class. Thank you for all the kind words, thoughts and gifts, I am truly privileged to be teaching in the Early childhood sector, every day is like my first day exciting, unpredictable, scary but most times the best fun ever. Today we played our version of The floor is lava in our kindy yard, the children had been talking about the ground being lava and I do recall seeing the trailer for the program on Netflix. But our version was great and so much more fun and exciting. Happy Educators day.

18.01.2022 Kia ora hi Namaste from the kindergarten class. Beautiful day for bubbly water play tipping and pouring and blowing the bubbles everywhere. So we have a big piece of packaging that the children use as a roof for the cubby houses they build with the crates, well today they used the packaging as a skidding slide totally child initiated and creative, shoes off socks left on to slide and glide too cute and too creative.

18.01.2022 Kia ora hi Namaste Konnichiwa from the kindergarten class. I have just had one of the cutest conversations with a friend to date, a while ago my friends were telling me what they were going to be when they grow up a policewoman, a vet and Queen of the jungle, another friend said she wanted to be queen of the sea anyway the topic came up again and the friends from the previous conversation recalled what they were going to be, vet, Queen of the jungle and so forth. The Queen of... the jungle told me she was going to have an elephant a tiger and a monkey, I told her that was a lot of animals to have she turned to her friend next to her and asked if she would be her helper, the friend said yes. She said that they won’t be wearing normal clothes and their dresses would be made out of leaves, the conversation went on a bit longer and it was serious however I think someone has been inspired by Katy Perry and her song Roar.. Oh an update on this resource, a favourite with both boys and girls nau mai haere mai. See more

16.01.2022 Hello from the Nursery! We hope you are having a great week so far. One of the current interests in our room is fruits and vegetables, so we made a learning wall dedicated to these foods to further extend this interest. Our little Nursery friends love to look, point and name the pictures on the wall, as well as find the matching foods in their lunchboxes

16.01.2022 Our veggie garden! Our junior kindy children have been doing an amazing job at caring for our veggie patch..our spinach has exploded and our corn has shot right up! We even have some snow peas and tomatoes growing slowly, we decided we will put a net over the tomatoes to keep the bugs off and a stake for support on the snow peas.... Not long now and we will have to pick some for another cooking experience...Keep an eye out over the next few weeks .

16.01.2022 This morning Junior Kindy planted some vegetable seedlings in the new veggie patch. The children planted some silver beet, baby spinach, corn, snow peas, tomatoes and rosemary. After planting they used the watering cans to give the seedlings a big drink of water. We have some keen gardeners amongst us, let’s hope they all have green thumbs.

15.01.2022 Painting This sensory painting experience allows children to feel, smell and touch the materials they are using. Children explore the paint on their feet and hands walking, crawling, hopping to make different pressings

15.01.2022 Jingeri Here in the Nursery we absolutely love painting! We do paintings with all kind of objects including shapes, sticks and leaves, Q-tips, paint brushes, stamps and cars.....but our little Nursery friends favourite part of painting is getting their hands dirty and exploring the texture of the paint with their fingers

15.01.2022 Kia ora hi Namaste from the kindergarten class. Just love how creative my friends are with our natural resources, making homes for the animals and the big lizard, his area was spruced up a bit too.

14.01.2022 Kia ora hi Namaste from the kindergarten class. My gosh a glorious marvellous Monday hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We are exploring measurement in our class particularly in our heights, blown away by the length of a snake skin brought in the other week, 6.6 at least, it took one full friend and a half of another to cover the length of that skin, urged on by this today we are measuring out our bodies, drawing the full outline and painting them. However you can only imagine the inquisitive conversation as we explored our outlines and what to paint on them, Happy Monday everyone.

14.01.2022 Kia ora hi Namaste everyone from the kindergarten class. Look at us play dough day we haven’t had any since March, love to hear people’s opinion on the return of play dough, please be kind.

14.01.2022 In the Nursery we provide many opportunities for children to express themselves through art Art activities are great for fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, imagination and creativity.

14.01.2022 Water/sand play These activities allow children to explore and investigate by mixing, moulding, shaping and manipulating the materials. Water play develops concentration as well as science and mathematical concepts including sink, float, full and empty while sand-play allows children to use there imagination and creativity.

13.01.2022 Tooth fairy show! What an exciting morning we had with the tooth fairy coming to visit us! We learnt about how to keep our teeth nice and healthy and what foods are good for us all the time and only sometimes we also read a story, did lots of singing and dancing and even got to brush Rufus the dogs teeth Woo Hoo!

11.01.2022 Music experiences Lately children have been enjoying music in the afternoons. This is a great opportunity to bring everyone together as a group at the end of the day, music promotes language development as well as allowing children to express themselves and gain confidence. It is also great for the development of smaller muscles in the hands and fingers. Have a great day!

07.01.2022 Seedling planting Our junior kindy children just absolutely love gardening! A big interest at the moment with all our friends. Today we enjoyed planting some seedlings here at kindy. Each child enjoyed selecting which plant they would like to grow. We will keep these here at kindy as we look after them and watch them grow in the next few weeks!!

05.01.2022 Yoga Small group experiences such as yoga are great for children’s physical and emotional development by helping further Children’s coordination, flexibility and strength while also giving children a sense of calmness and relaxation. This afternoon we got our yoga mats out, put some nice relaxing music on and practised some special poses; standing on one leg, stretching our arms and lots of big breaths. What a great way to regroup before heading outside again for the afternoon .

05.01.2022 Bug Hunt! Bugs and insects have been such a big interest in Junior kindy lately so this morning we had lots of fun going on a bug hunt in the garden . We grabbed some buckets and went searching for lots of different creepy crawlies that were hiding in the plants...What bugs can you see? Spiders, Ladybirds, snakes and lizards were all the ones we named we also looked at some more unusual bugs like a centipede and a scorpion!!

05.01.2022 Kia ora hi Namaste from the kindergarten class. Father’s Day is coming and once again I put aside my personal feelings about these days because I am reminded that children know what they know and feel what they feel. Here are how my children feel about their dads, poppies or uncles: I love my dad because he makes yummy dinner and plays games with me, I love dad because he takes me to the beach and on the surf board, I love my dad because he is smart and can stabilise cars, my dad loves the shotgun song, daddy loves the rainbow song, I want to say to dad I love you, me and dad smashed a piñata together, we play monopoly and mousetrap , dad takes me out to get a pie I love my dad because he is silly all the time. Out of the mouth of babes, have a great day.

04.01.2022 Ki ora hi Namaste Konnichiwa from the kindergarten class. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend it’s a little cooler on the coast today but the fun must go on. We made play dough earlier today it’s part of our predictable routine activity each Monday and children look forward to helping, the ultimate goal would be for the children to have total autonomy of this process, which is achievable as when I was training many years ago in New Zealand I was at a kindergarten where chi...ldren had recipe cards to make their own scones which children did with little to no intervention it was amazing to watch, these competent involved learners making individual scones for morning tea, process cooking. Anyway saw a recent post of a kindy that let children make the play dough, they had an area allocated and there was big mess but it looked like big reward in the learning department hmmm we could do that too, just have to figure out the logistics and if my poor old mind could stand the mess. See more

04.01.2022 Painting Continuing with our big interest in insects and bugs we made some butterfly and spider paintings. Children folded the paper and smoothed the paint to create beautiful pressings we then added pipe cleaners for antennae’s. For the spiders we used our hand prints and then added some googly eyes we then used the artworks for a nice display in our room. Book your Family Tour today to join in on the fun and learning! 03.01.2022 Halloween dress up day! Woo hoo what a fun day we had here at kindy! Everyone looked amazing In their costumes I saw clowns, princesses, ice queens, zombies and witches. We also enjoyed many different Halloween activities throughout the day as well as baking some yummy cupcakes

03.01.2022 Kia ora hi Namaste from the kindergarten class. Happy Friday everyone another amazing day and end to our very busy week. Bringing back old school skipping jump rope so much fun, musical statues and musical chairs and then a picnic lunch, a beautiful day not too hot and not too cold here on the Gold Coast so resting under our shade sails and verandah, what must seem like eternity to my friends, half an hour, back up to continue our fabulous Friday. Have a wonderful weekend everyone.

02.01.2022 Kia ora hi Namaste Konnichiwa from the kindergarten class. Well a little project is evolving with the recycling of our lunch box litter we collected packets and yoghurt tops and other bits and pieces from children’s lunchboxes we shredded the packets and ended up with sparkly paper to use for collage. We have discussed where the rubbish goes how it gets to where it’s going and so forth. So today when we were going to do a box construction activity one of my friends said he wa...s going to make the dump truck with the boxes. While I was setting up the activity a friend had gone off and drawn a plan of the rubbish truck that he was going to build with the boxes he was very excited waving the plan of the truck in front of me. We went and photocopied his picture as he wanted to take the original home and we sat down again and he told me all the aspects of the plan. Hopefully our new whiteboard will help our research once it gets up and running. See more

02.01.2022 Kia ora hi Namaste from the kindergarten class. Was a little challenged today questioning my practice and belief in learning through play and it’s importance and then I look at my class of beautiful unique individuals and they remind me its okay.

01.01.2022 Nature painting Today in the junior kindy room to celebrate NAIDOC week we took part in doing some nature paintings.
