19.01.2022 Due to Covid 19, the National NAIDOC Committee has confirmed the new NAIDOC Week dates for 2020 will be 8-15 November. This incredibly, beautiful 2020 NAIDOC Poster ~ SHAPE OF LAND ~ by Tyrown Waigana, a 23 year old Noongar and Saibai Islander man. "The Rainbow Serpent is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Ra...inbow Serpent, thus our connection to Country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime" Tyrown Waigana said. The children and educators enjoyed engaging in Indigenous arts and crafts, dream time stories, damper making, face painting, Indigenous music and movement and so much more. The children had a wonderful time creating special displays within their learning environments. NAIDOC Week celebrations are held across Australia each year to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life.
