Finger painting is also a relaxing and creative way to express feelings. Archer and Abel used the paint to do a sensory art experience and it consisted of specific learning such as touch, sight, sound, smell as well as social skills and learning to take turns.

14.01.2022 This morning we chose to have a picnic outside for morning tea. We all washed our hands then headed back outside to enjoy a yummy bowl of freshly cut watermelon, apples and bananas to energize our bodies for a productive day. Having picnics outside allows the children to become more connected as they share the same table and engage in chatter with each other. Its also a refreshing way to enjoy company in the lovely fresh air.

06.01.2022 Whilst we were creating the handprints with the painted flag on it, we discussed with each child about our creation, a flag that symbolises the unity and identity of Aboriginal People and culture. The black in their fingers represents the Aboriginal People of Australia. The yellow represent the sun; the giver of life and protector. And, the red hand prints represent the red earth; the red ochre (a natural clay earth pigment) used in ceremonies and Aboriginal peoples’ spiritu...al relation to the land. #NAIDOCWeek2020

03.01.2022 This morning to challenge our fine motor skills we explored yarn painting, using pieces of yarn tied to pegs and some coloured water. Both Archer and Abel were eager to take a turn once given a small demonstration. After dipping the yarn into the colored water both boys found that they could make many shapes as they either moved the string across their paper to make a skipping effect or shook the string above for a splatter effect. Yarn painting is process art that allows toddlers the freedom to use yarn and coloured water to explore and experiment whilst strengthening their fine motor skills.
