21.01.2022 The Swiss lead the way with " Air+ Contactless punching" From Sportident; Among the countries implementing contactless punching into the national orienteering events Switzerland plays a pioneering role. The federation decided to enable all the orienteering events for contactless punching in October 2016. The decision came into effect for the o-season starting March 2017. Contactless punching is an option the athlete can choose.... The federation organised the National Sprint-Champs in Foot-O this weekend. Among the 1850 participants as many as 1047 used a SIAC (56%). In my understanding this is a fast adaption rate of the technology. Since March we also did not get any serious complains about the AIR+ technology from Switzerland. The opposite is the case. My conclusion is that there have been too many concerns and discussions about the new technology instead of testing and implementing it. The smooth introduction in Switzerland was also boosted by the Swiss Way of innovating. Since the beginning of the year, there is a full set of documents both detailed and outline-style for the event centre. So every athlete has been very well prepared before first time use of AIR+. 04.01.2022 Do you use Sportident? Want to know more about Sportident? Siegfried Ritter is the Managing Director of Sportident Germany and he will be attending Easter 2016 in ACT.... Siegfried ( Sportident Germany) supplied the SIAC timing sticks for the elites which will be use in the Prologue. This has enabled our elite orienteers to get familiar with contactless punching currently being used in races overseas. Siegfried will be demonstrating the AIR+ system and SIAC at a meeting Easter Friday 3pm. He will also be demonstrating some new products as well as advancements or upgrades of products currently in use. This information is valuable for our current IT people but also for anyone thinking about organising an event. Every state / club has an IT person but what if they are away? Come along and bring your clubs " Plan B". The meeting is to inform you about how Sportident works and is open to all orienteers. If you are an elite or part of the WOC and JWOC teams you need to know how it works and the limits / range. IT, organizers and competitors all welcome. This is your chance to get your Sportident questions answered! The meeting will be held Friday 25th March 3pm til 4pm Brumbies Theatrette, Building 29, upstairs.
