22.01.2022 Theres all this talk in Australia about people smugglers and they are being demonised. Ive had personal experience with people smugglers, a number of them. And the ones Ive experienced were pretty nice people. They took enormous risks to do what they did and I believe it is my duty, not just my wish, to thank them. ~Les Murray is recognised by many as the face of football in Australia, and his love of the world game began as a young boy growing up in a village near Budapest. In 1956, at just 11 years old, his family fled the country after the Soviet government quashed a short-lived revolt by the people. Murrays father was known to oppose the communist regime and to ensure the safety of his family, made plans for them to escape. They were smuggled across the border into Austria, before eventually being settled in Australia.

In addition to my written submission, I delivered my best "oral submission"--I am gifted, I was told many times in the past...Cheers to that!

19.01.2022 Australian Christian Lobby Managing Director Jim Wallace said: Millions of Australians, including Prime Minister Julia Gillard, do not support redefining marriage and they are distressed at being labelled bigots and haters because of their view. If Attila The Hun said something against homosexuality, Mr. Wallace would surely quote him to justify his hypocritical views on same-sex marriage. He and his ilk constantly talk about "sanctity/defence of marriage" and yet he has n...ot qualms naming the PRIME MINISTER Julia Gillard, who happens to be, according to scriptures is also a PRIME FORNICATOR (she does not believe in marriage full stop--otherwise she and her long time partner would have tied to knot by now). Not that endorse that label, I believe it her right to decide NOT to get married but I would not support legislation to demonise such relationship. Mr Wallace of course would not even consider that various surveys of Australians indicate majority support for same-sex marriage. It is not even a question of survey--it is fundamental that the state protects basic human and civil rights of the minority.

19.01.2022 Closing paragraph of long submission I wrote today in support of an visa application for the couple I am helping: "They have demonstrated the centrality of their relationship to their livesthe strength of their commitment to each other has been tested by time, HIV infection, death in the family even calamities in their native countriesthrough all these, they supported and relied on each other. We submit that their circumstances deserve compassion, that their case is one that fits in well with the principles for the exercise of the health waiver and that they ought be given an Australian fair go."

15.01.2022 The Department of Immigration and Border Protection updated their forms. In Form 80, which is required for most applications, one is now required to provide details of residential addresses, travel details in the LAST 30 years, education SINCE birth (with address of the institutions!), dates and details employment and unemployment (with explanation and FULL address of the business or company) among other things. In some applications, they want to know the date of marriage of your siblings... What is next?--details of the people you had sex with in your present and past lives?

13.01.2022 Accompanied 1 "unlawful" non-citizen to immigration to regularise his stay in the country, 1 child born through surrogacy now applying for citizenship by descent, Talked to someone who is clearly already missing his partner who is temporarily overseas and this is the first time they have been separated. One hour call comforting someone in same-sex de facto relationship of 8 years, now suffering family/domestic violence and his partner telling him to pack up, he has got nowhere to go! I could only help with immigration, how to get him to have the courage to stand on his own feet again, I could only offer some wise & kind (hopefully) words! As result I have to say "no" not today "busy mate" next timeOMG, I need to go back to gym and sweat these all out!

10.01.2022 No doubt the poor man breached a condition of his visa but it is the disproportionate "punishment" amounting to what the Australian Human Rights Commission considers as '"arbitrary detention" that makes me mad. His sin? "working in a bakery in western Sydney without the correct visa." With respect to many compassionate immigration officials, the problem is that there is still a strong archaic and draconian "attitude" within the Department. Perhaps Immigration officials shoul...d be reminded that this is 20th century-2012 to be exact, I mean some of them carry on as if people who come to Australia are part Australia's "migration program" in 18th and 19th centuries--where large numbers of convicts were transported to various Australian penal colonies by the British government some of the offences include stealing of goods worth over 5 shillings, the cutting down of a tree, stealing an animal or stealing from a rabbit warren!--(notice how I could easily added here: working in bakery without correct visa!) In the long drama of human history, momentous events such as the ruling of US Supreme Court on same-sex marriage happened many, many times before. "Brethren", I beg you, do not be carried away with hatred and sense of doom. Just think of the jubilation of the your fellow Christians, when the Roman Empire, the superpowe...r of that era adopted Christianity as its official religion. Long time before that, in good years, Christianity was discriminated against; in bad years, it was persecuted. "Sisters", I similarly beg you to remember that marriage is not the be all and end all of our happiness. Just think of how the straight ones made a mess of iteven with the supposedly divine and biblical, only between a man and a woman prerogative". Legally recognised marriage---or not ACCEPTANCE, KINDNESS, CONNECTION, DEVOTION, FORGIVENESS are still the foundations of any meaningful and lasting relationship. 04.01.2022 Who would think that an interview with an Immigration official in connection with a partner visa application could be titillating? Can't they just watch porn? Here we have a case officer who is enforcing sexual monogamy. Extract of my submission to Migration Review Tribunal for my clients. 1. During the interview, the delegate asked misleading questions to both the sponsor and the applicant, using the word relationship to pertain to both sexual relationship and de facto ...relationship. At no point the applicant and sponsor characterised the sexual contact with others as relationships. To the contrary, we tried in vain to explain that those sexual contacts were casual and not ongoing. 2. Under the Assessment of the Evidence and Findings, on page 3 paragraph 2, the delegate used the word relationship vaguely. We submit that sexual contacts and de facto relationship are separate and distinct concepts. 3. We submit that the relevant legislation deliberately does not prescribe sexual preferences and practices. We submit that doing so would turn the partner visa assessment process to an uncomfortable and prurient exercise---an unacceptable level of intrusion to the private sexual lives of the applicant and the sponsor. This delegates inordinate interest in the sexual lives of my clients left me wondering whether she was exercising her duties as decision makeror she was unconsciously trying to meet her own unfilled needs.
