23.01.2022 Wallum Banksias. Pine Ridge Conservation Park.
20.01.2022 Hello Nature Lovers, This big eastern grey kangaroo was spotted on a recent bike ride through the Pine Ridge Conservation Park. There is lots of Spring flowering plants in there at present and the colours of the ferns and grass along the tracks are brilliant orange, red and yellow colours. The swampy water that was prevalent, especially in the gullies and on the heathlands, has miraculously disappeared. Access to most tracks is now good. Some good photos to be taken at present, however always be aware that we are entering snake season now, so be mindful of where you are and what may be around you. Enjoy the long holiday weekend and the beautiful nature around us. Please contact me for information or any questions about access and things to do, in our great Conservation Parks. Yours in nature, Chris.
19.01.2022 Hello Friends, Well its so good to see our wonderful sporting fields being used for sports now, after the Covid shutdown. The Runaway Bay soccer fields are being played on again, as is this fabulous cycle track at the Oxley Drive sports fields. Great to see the sports people out there, enjoying themselves again! Hope you can get out for a walk or ride too, in our fabulous natural areas. Conservation parks, sporting fields and coastal areas etc. However dont forget the hat and sunscreen now, as things start to warm up again.Take care and enjoy it all. Yours in nature.Chris G
17.01.2022 Hello Everyone, Well Springtime is well and truly here, with these gusty north westerlies, heralding the change of seasons. In the picture this week, we have bands of cumulus clouds, passing over Paradise Lake. Soon, it will be jacacranda time again, with their brilliant blue and purplish flowers. I hope you have had a chance to get out and have a walk or ride in nature now, as we watch the blooming colours of Spring. The crimson bottlebrush are thick with blooms and quite ...stunning now. If you have a preference to the pictures I post, please leave a message. I try to cover all aspects of nature, at our beautiful lakes, parks and sport venues, however if you have prefer to see more birds and animal pictures, trees and plants or simply take pot-luck with whatever comes next, then please leave your comments. Enjoy the weekend. Take care of yourselves and nature. Until next time, Cheers from Chris See more
17.01.2022 Hello friends, Some of you may have been lucky to catch this amazing 'gravity cloud'effect Sat week ago. Apparently it is caused by high altitude wind passing through mid - high level clouds, giving this impressive ripple effect. Nature can be surprisingly impressive, at anytime, so always have a camera or your phone at the ready. Until next time, Take care of yourself and the beautiful nature around us. Chris

03.01.2022 Hello Everyone, I have changed the cover picture to show you inside the Pine Ridge Conservation Park. It is very different again from the other Conservation Parks in the area, and definately worthy of a visit. This is a typical heathland scene in the park. There are forested areas too, including Eucalyptus, Coastal Pine and Wallum Banksias. Lovely fern gullies too. Remember everything is protected in there, so all kinds of wildlife will be in there too, so take care and enjoy the nature of it all. Yours in nature, Chris
03.01.2022 Hi Friends, Well the weather has been a bit fresh these nights, followed by lovely, sunny days, hasn't it. The recent rain, has greened things up and the native animals in our parklands would be enjoying some good pickings at present. There are some lovely winter flowers for us to enjoy, such as, brilliant orange trumpet flower hedges, scarlet bougainvillia bushes and purple tibouchina trees at present. Grevillias are looking pretty good too! There are no tours scheduled to r...un now, or in the foreseeable future, so why not take a walk or drive around our northern suburbs to enjoy these beauties, while they are at their best! Good time during the cooler months to get out and enjoy a nature walk in our wonderful Conservation Parks at Coombabah and the Arundel section too. There is to be hazard reduction burning in August and September in the Pine Ridge Conservation Park, so probably best to time your walk there, or leave it until after it is over. Until the next time, take care of yourselves and the animals. Yours in nature, Chris
