13.01.2022 Some excellent news was announced on Friday (25 September) relating to capacity of events and venues in NSW! Entertainment facilities (including theatre, cinema and concert venues) will now able to sell tickets for seated events at 50 per cent of capacity, to a maximum of 1000 tickets! The NSW Government’s MR says it’ll come into effect this week but some media outlets like the SMH are reporting that it will come into effect on Thursday 1 October. 07.01.2022 A message from AFIC's Founder & Event Director, Carlina Ericson: Today would have marked the concluding day of the 2nd and follow up Australian Festival Industry Conference. It was only today when I met up with a colleague that it suddenly hit me.. Today (and the past two days) are actually probably the most significant days for me personally out of this entire year, aside from that dreadful 16 March.. It's been a challenging year to say the least and vastly different from th...e last - although I don't have to try and educate you all on this point - we all share the same story! Last year I met one of the founders of Bluesfest and she said something that has resonated and stayed with me ever since: "birthing an event is a bit like birthing a child - it takes 9 months and despite all the planning, you don't know exactly what you're going to get." I feel this is so true, and something that anyone who's had a hand in creating something from scratch can relate to! Once you have it, it changes you forever and no-one can ever truly take the experience away from you, even if you do let it go to someone else. Your own blood, sweat and tears goes into making it the best it can be; and as it turned out, last year came off a treat! So today, it's worth me raising a glass to everyone who helped me make last year a success and to everyone in the events industry who's been impacted by Covid-19. 2021 - you're going to be bigger and better than ever imagined! #AFIC2020 #afic2021 #WeMakeEvents #eventherethisyear See more
