22.01.2022 On Tuesday we had this PX1 Ranger in the Workshop. We had been asked to remove the Factory Tub and fit an Aluminium Customer Supplied Tray. This also involved fitting the Factory Parking Sensors to the Tray as well as the Factory Reverse Camera and also mounting the Factory Fuel Filler hose under the Tray. ... We completed the job in 3/4 of a Day and the Customer was absolutely ecstatic with the Result. Unfortunately, other Workshops in the area were reluctant to take on the Job.
22.01.2022 LOCALS LOOKING AFTER LOCALS. We were contacted by our Oil Rep late Yesterday afternoon, Hes company vehicle had broken down. Our oil rep from a Melbourne based Australian Company happens to live in Kyneton. After a quick phone conversation we were both quite confident of the issue, so as too speed up the process, parts were ordered before we had even seen the vehicle and because of this we were able to get the part on overnight delivery. Arrangements were made too have the v...ehicle towed to our Shop. Parts were onsite when we opened this Morning and we were very pleased too have our Rep back on the road by 11am Today. Its nice to have a few future favours up our sleeve.

19.01.2022 **EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT** To be honest especially in the current time of Financial and Economic instability this was not an easy decision to come to but I am happy to announce AUSTIN AUTO REPAIRS have just made an almost 5 figure Investment towards a new piece of Automotive Diagnostic equipment. The Latest in Snap-on Diagnostic Equipment, the Triton D8 Scan Tool will allow us to much more accurately and more Efficiently Diagnose and Repair any fault on any vehicle that comes... through our Doors. Wether its your 99 Mazda 323 or a 2020 Mercedes AMG we can now carry out a simple Diagnostic scan, reset your Service Parameters or Diagnose and Repair the most Complex Fault with your vehicle. With the always evolving new car market and more electronic and sensor based systems installed in new vehicles, Diagnostics are now at the forefront of Automotive repair. Gone are the days of pulling up at your local garage and the service technician diagnosing your fault without even lifting the bonnet.

14.01.2022 Coronavirus hit us hard in May. Turnover was down a massive 60-70% and we had dropped back to Trading 4 Days a week. June and now into July weve come full circle. Turnover is back to where it should be and were struggling to keep up with the Work. Just to add to our already massive workload, this absolute Beast of Japanese Engineering has come to us from Melbourne for a new Heart. The 100 Series Landcruiser, available in both a Petrol v8 or 6 Cylinder Diesel, unfortunatel...y the petrol version was always a bit Thirsty so most of them had been converted to dual fuel. Gas in my opinion should never have left the Kitchen. Its an awful awful thing too run an engine on, unfortunately after 400,000 Kays, 300,000 of those on Gas, this engine has succumbed to this awfulness and is lacking compression on several cylinders. At our advice the Customer has already had the gas system removed and Weve sourced a good low Kilometre engine from one of our interstate suppliers, thankfully one that has never been on Gas and given a few weeks this Beast will be back to its former glory.

11.01.2022 Its Amazing how one link in a Chain can create so much hassle. As some of you are already aware, The Yard besides our Factory was broken into overnight on Monday 12th November. The Chain securing the Gate was cut with Boltcutters and our Purpose Built Tandem Axle Car Carrying Trailer was Stolen.... Id just like to take this Opportunity to Thank everybody who Shared the Original Post plus the Numerous people who continue to keep an eye out for the Trailer. To Say I am Happy with the Police response so far would be untrue but I guess in a Small Country town they can be quite busy and have Better things too do. Further enquiries made by myself today have been promising with regards to CCTV cameras attached to surrounding Factories. I am hopeful of its return but at the same time Realistic. The one thing we have in our favour is the relatively unique design of the Trailer. It is insured and hopefully the payout is enough to cover replacement costs.
10.01.2022 A major job we completed this past week. Replacing the Heatercore in this 2005 model Mitsubishi Magna. Complete removal of the Dashboard and Heater Box assembly is required to access the Heatercore. As we specialise in these vehicles we can generally do the Job not only cheaper but also quicker than a lot of other Workshops.... This repair is charged at $1100 which includes GENUINE parts, Labour, new coolant and complete system pressure test. This vehicle came in Wednesday Morning and was ready for pickup Friday morning. 2 days is Generally what we allow. When it comes to repairs like this, some workshops can be apprehensive to take on the work as its not so much of a Mechanical repair which is what most workshops are used too doing. To have the Heatercore replaced in your vehicle, whether its a Magna or any other Model. Call us Today.

07.01.2022 LONG POST BUT DEFINATELY WORTH A READ. This 2011 Volkswagen Golf came to us last week for some diagnosis. The owner was experiencing an intermittent but frequent engine warning light and a reduction in engine torque. In other words the vehicle was going into "Safe Mode"... A quick scan with our Diagnostic scan tool revealed several fault codes relating too the EGR System. We noted these codes then cleared them from the vehicles computer, we then took the vehicle for a Road test only to experience engine light and failsafe mode after only a few kilometres. Another scan revealed the exact same codes. We also checked the vehicles "live data" through our scan tool and could see that when the vehicle was entering safe mode, the operating values for the EGR System were falling too zero. The EGR or "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve" Is an assembly that re-burns exhaust gasses through the engine thus decreasing harmful emissions to the environment. We were fairly certain we were dealing with a failed EGR Valve. A quick check of online forums revealed that EGR Valve issues on these vehicles were extremely common and wide spread. This particular vehicle runs a combined EGR Valve and Cooler assembly. A call to our local VW dealer revealed this would not be an easy fix. With a Retail Price of $1100 for the EGR Assembly and due to the location on the engine its a labour intensive job, the customer was looking at around $2000 to have the problem rectified. The EGR Assembly is fitted to the back of the Engine, under the Turbo, behind the DPF also with a Driveshaft and suspension "K" frame in close proximity. The customer was given a quote and the vehicle came back this week to have the EGR replaced and the problem rectified. Once we started the job we realised it was not as difficult as we first thought. The new EGR Valve was fitted reasonably easily and due to this we were able to do the job not only quicker but also cheaper than we had quoted. Our customer was very happy. Once fitted we cleared all fault codes from the vehicles computer and conducted several road tests totaling around 50 Kilometres we were able to confirm the problem was rectified. A lot of workshops can be scared off by European Vehicles, especially when dealing with expensive parts that once fitted become "Non Returnable" Because even though youve done all the diagnosis and dudiligence you can there is always still the possibility that the part your replacing may not fix the fault. But sometimes youve just gotta get in there and give it a crack!!

03.01.2022 Recently we were contacted by a regular customer, their Diesel Pajero was suffering from a consistently flat battery. They had been advised by a Road Service Provider that Their Alternator required replacing. During the conversation they advised the car was running fine otherwise however just having a flat battery. Although Diesel vehicles are not as reliant on their alternator as petrol vehicles, we would still have expected some driveability issues. We quoted an alternator... replacement at around $800 however advised the customer wed like to confirm the issue first. Upon inspecting the vehicle we conducted some basic diagnostic checks. We checked the Battery and although discharged tested ok. We also conducted an alternator charge rate test and although the charge rate was low it was not as low as we would have expected from a failed alternator and there was not any warning light on the Dashboard, something we would also expect to see from a failed alternator. During inspecting the vehicle we had noted a burning smell and also a significant belt squeal. Upon inspecting the alternator drivebelts they were found to be in extremely poor condition and very loose. We advised the customer that before replacing the alternator that the drivebelts should be replaced and charge rate rechecked. We were quite confident that new drivebelts would fix the issue however the customer was apprehensive to take this approach. After advising that even if the alternator needed replacing the drivebelts would still need replacing aswell, It was agreed to replace the drivebelts and then move forward from there. After replacing the drivebelts, at a cost of only $250. The alternator was now charging at a perfect rate of 14.4 Volts with Higbeam lights on. We also charged the Battery for several hours via an external battery charger. All in all saving the customer $550.
