25.01.2022 It was an absolute pleasure to be back at the beautiful Ray Of Light yoga studio teaching yoga, not as a student, but as a guest teacher to a really lovely, enthusiastic group of students doing their yoga teacher training with Rachel Nokes from Ray of Light @rayoflight000 over the weekend. I remember how life changing the experience was for me when I completed my training in 2017! It was exciting to share what I love with other likeminded souls! Kai @kaihazelgroveyoga

17.01.2022 Chronic stress is no good. Yoga can be a great way to bring the nervous system back into balance and also can provide tools to assist you with changing the way you react in certain situations, resulting in a reduction of stress.

17.01.2022 How are you? Not only should we be asking this of the people around us and genuinely listening to their response, but we should also be taking time to tune in to how we are ourselves! How are our thoughts, our feelings, our energy, our emotions. How do we feel in our bodies?... Our breath can be a wonderful guide to give us an indication of how we are. The breath is the bridge between the body and the mind and can tell us whether we are feeling stressed and up regulated or whether we are feeling calm or perhaps lethargic or depressed. The key is to notice without judgement and slowly take steps to take us in the direction to a more balanced state for optimal health and well-being. This can take time and practice so we always start where we, as individuals are at, and with a diligent practice, over time, can start to notice a positive change. This is important to be paired with a sense of patience and not being attached to the time it takes or whether you can notice results at all. Quite often when there is no desire for a particular result, but the steps are taken in the right direction for positive change, this is when the magic happens. Yoga when practiced to the rhythm of your breath and tuning in to your energy and state of mind can be nourishing for all the layers of your being. So ask yourself, how are you right now, in this moment with kindness and self compassion and let your breath and yoga be your guide. Namaste We have many offerings that will give you and opportunity to tune in with how you are and find your flow to an ocean of calm. Please see timetable via the classes tab on www.austinmerbeachhouseyoga.com and click on the link of the class that interests you. We also have mums and bubs courses to encourage community and connection between each other.

15.01.2022 What is getting grounded in yoga? Grounding is connecting with the earth both physically and spiritually. On a physical level, grounding involves practicing yoga poses that facilitate this connection to Earth, including proper techniques to ensure a solid base.... Grounding practices can include breath exercises (pranayama), meditation and mindfulness that are designed to connect you with the here and now, ideal for stressful, busy times when anxiety levels are rising. We let go of stories and narratives about what might be happening, what has happened and what could happen. We drop into the experience of what IS. We feel stronger, more balanced and more connected with the earth and ourselves. Through grounding, we feel secure and present, and we establish our right to be here. To be grounded cultivates physical and mental stability and balance. Any time you are feeling overwhelmed, or caught up in worries, pause for a moment. Take the time to check in with the parts of you that are connected to the ground. Breathe into those connections, deliberately strengthening them, and feel the permanence of this rooting and stability. Whatever happens, the earth is still there and you are still grounded on it. All our classes will be based on grounding qualities this week. Teagan’s Wednesday 7-8am class has a strong Earth/Grounding focus, to start the day feeling calm and focused. All ages and abilities are welcome. For bookings click here https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule.php

10.01.2022 Yoga is a dance between control and surrender - between pushing and letting go - and when to push and when to let go becomes part of the creative process, part of the open-ended exploration of your being. - Joel Kramer One beautiful benefit of yoga is the self enquiry, which can bring about a deeper understanding of yourself and how to bring more balance to your life. We encourage self enquiry and making your yoga practice your own.... Check out our website for classes designed to self empower & support you both on and off your mat. We also have two Mums and Bubs 6 week courses coming up. One starts this Thursday, 10:45am-12pm and the other starts Wednesday, 19th August 10:45am-12pm. Classes are provided in a home based environment, with recommended covid safety measures taken. These classes are a wonderful way to connect with other like-minded women. Only a few spaces left.

07.01.2022 Feeling super grateful for our students, friends and family who have supported us and each other during what has been a challenging year for many! We couldn’t have done it without you and for that we will be forever grateful! As a community we continue to do what we can to support one another and it is a beautiful thing to see. As a small, boutique yoga studio, things haven’t been easy at times but we are doing what we can to continue to provide quality services to our community. Thank you for your support!!! See you on the mat!

03.01.2022 Today is R U OK Day in Australia. It is a National day where we check in on people and ask them how they’re REALLY going. Not just in a conversational ‘how are you?’ kind of way, but in a real and authentic way. Nothing worse than actually opening up to someone about how you feel and just getting a blank look. We get it that some days/weeks/months can feel really shitty!... If you have a feeling that someone you know or care about might be struggling, try asking them these questions: How are you going lately? It seems like you have a lot on your plate right now. Things are crazy with all this COVID stuff right now, how are you coping with it? Do you need a chat? I’m here if you need me. And if you’re not feeling ok, it’s also the perfect day to reach out to a friend, family member or therapist and let them know. We ALL need support at times and sometime to talk to. We are all in this together! We are thinking of you all during these challenging times. We might feel ok one day but things can creep up on us when we least expect it. We have those days also, you’re not alone!
