Well done to all at Adelaide's @CASR_RoadSafety https://sciencedirect.com/scie/article//S0001457519318408 ... #infrastructure #roadsafety #seriousinjury #spinalinjury #braininjury

08.01.2022 As the Office of Road Safety (ORS) approaches the milestone of its first 100 days, ACRS was pleased to receive an important stakeholder update on progress with ORS activities. We are pleased to share this important update with members and road safety stakeholders across the region: https://lnkd.in/gWPXAPR
08.01.2022 It was wonderful for ACRS CEO Claire Howe to catch up with Senator Glenn Sterle & Senator Alex Gallacher, Deputy Speaker Llew O'Brien MP & others today at Australia's Parliament House - all recognised #RoadSafety leaders. (Still no public access at APH so it was looking very empty - great for parking though!)
07.01.2022 It's just wonderful to see Senator Alex Gallacher and the Australian federal Parliamentary Friends of Road Safety group being highlighted as a prime example of political leadership, providing powerful, unbiased leadership and support for road trauma reductions - beyond political and party allegiances, & pushing the much broader elimination agenda. The group in Australia consists of 40+ federal politicians across all parties, and is a vital and powerful force in our work Towards Zero.

04.01.2022 "Four police officers killed in Melbourne freeway crash hailed by Premier as 'heroes'." Just devastating - deepest sympathies to all affected and involved. "Victoria Police Chief Chief says it is the largest single loss of lives in one incident in the history of Victoria Police."... "Chief Commissioner Ashton said two of the officers had pulled the Porsche over in the emergency stopping lane when they decided to impound the car and called for two more officers to assist them." "Two other officers arrived on the scene and all were out of their cars when a large refrigerated truck then drove into the officers and the Porsche." https://lnkd.in/grBR8nq
04.01.2022 Congratulations to Mr Eric Chalmers AM, ACRS Vice-President, on the Governor-General's announcement today of the Queen's Birthday award as Member (AM) in the General Division "for significant service to the community through child accident prevention and road safety organisations" As many of you are aware, Eric has lent his considerable expertise to the College in a voluntary capacity over the course of many years, so it is especially wonderful to see this dedication 'outside... the norm' being publicly recognised. Eric's work has ensured many more families and communities have been spared the ripple effects of road deaths and injuries, and for this we are especially grateful. Full biographical details stated on the GG's website today: https://www.gg.gov.au/australian-honours-and-awards

02.01.2022 It was wonderful for ACRS CEO Claire Howe to catch up with ACRS Patron His Excellency David Hurley, Governor-General of Australia, at Canberra's Government House earlier today. It was a perfect chance to talk all things road safety including the shocking $30b+ annual cost of road trauma in Australia, 40,000 injuries p/yr and rising,1,200 fatalities, and especially the great work the College and our many members are doing to support trauma reductions. The College was very gra...teful to be joined by Peter & Judy Frazer from the SARAH Foundation, ACRS Vice-President Eric Chalmers, Jo Wilson-Ridley from Queanbeyan-Palerang Council, and Tracey Norberg from Goulburn Shire Council. A favourite part of the day? Definitely chatting to our Patron as well as meeting His Excellency's lovely wife Mrs Linda Hurley. An impromptu rendition of 'You are my sunshine, my only sunshine' by Peter and Mrs Hurley capped off a perfect day, perfectly. So special. So much work to do, and we are so appreciative of the support of our Patron - we are very lucky
02.01.2022 Today, I once again spoke in the Senate about Road Safety. We are supposed to be reducing road fatalities, however in my home state so far this year - we have seen an increase of fatalities of 73.3%. 01.01.2022 Today is World Day of Remembrance for Road Trauma Victims - 1.3M Deaths & many, many, MANY MORE Serious Injuries worldwide. It's vital we take this one day to reflect on these incomprehensible statistics. In Australia alone we have 1,200 deaths & 40,000 serious injuries every year - and each & every one is violent, traumatic, & so devastating to so many mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, extended families, workplaces, first responders, friends & n...eighbours.... One By One they happen. One By One they take their enormous toll. Our hearts go out to all those affected as we at the College, together with all of our members, continue to strongly support everyone's leadership & work Towards Zero. https://t.co/gKEay1TRDq
01.01.2022 The latest road death and injury projections from Australia's federal department @infra_regional are confronting and quite simply alarming. This is why we NEED YOU to join 500+ at our 2019 Australasian Road Safety Conference (ARSC2019) NEXT WEEK in Adelaide. Read our latest conference alert here... https://bit.ly/2lVteoe
