Read the ARAs new tendering framework for rolling stock and signalling to see how some simple measures could help get more projects on track faster and easier. https://ara.net.au//Tendering%20Framework%20-%20A%20Best%2

11.01.2022 The ARA launched the Value of Rail 2020 today, confirming the importance of moving more passengers and freight to rail to avoid rising environmental, safety and social costs. Value of Rail is the latest major research report to be released by the ARA and was launched at an online event featuring Deputy Prime Minister Michael McCormack and Opposition Spokesperson for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Catherine King today. Both Minister McCormack and Ms King di...scussed the essential role rail will play in supporting Australia’s economy and community over the next decade and beyond. Rail contributes $29.8 billion to the economy and supports 165,000 direct and indirect jobs. The report confirms the need to bring passengers back to our trains, trams and light rail after COVID-19, with one commuter train taking 578 cars off the road. Rail will also play a growing role in meeting our national freight task, meeting 72 per cent of new demand expected by 2030. 07.01.2022 NSW Government comments this week that building trains is not a realistic option in Australia are simply wrong. Australia has a $2.4 billion rollingstock manufacturing and repair industry with capability and experience across the country, including in regional NSW. But state government failures to adopt a nationally consistent procurement process that considers the whole of life costs of... critical public transport assets are hurting our manufacturing industry. The fact is, passenger trains are manufactured right here in Australia to the highest standards.
