Baca penjelasan tentang pembangunan masjid ini di: https://www.theage.com.au//light-and-colour-frame-glenn-mu ----- Contemporary, innovative, and unique are just some of the words that come to mind when describing our Australian mosque this #masjidMonday ! AIMEP delegates have been visiting the Australian Islamic Centre's Newport mosque for several years - from the time the new mosque was just a building site, when they visited the previous humble community mosque and were generously hosted for afternoon tea by the imam and his family, through to our most recent delegates who have stood within the walls of the almost complete mosque, witnessing the beauty of colours reflected through its glass walls and ceiling. Found to the west of Melbourne city, Newport mosque is no ordinary building... Traditional domes are replaced with simple, minimalist architecture that invites natural light into the mosque and prayer spaces. One of the mosque's architects, Hakan Elevli, explains the intention behind the mosque's design as wanting to create "something that's inclusive - something that's going to be transparent." Other than a place of worship, the mosque complex also incorporates a community centre, library for Islamic studies and a cafe and restaurant.
