19.01.2022 (add your profile and covid story or someone special to you ) Hi Chris, Sorry for the delay in this request through Facebook... It has been a very busy time during this period. We have been working hard to keep the service operating and the community safe. First of all I would like to thank the approximately 20 staff and 15 Doctors that help provide the Call The Doctor service. They have all been very flexible and adaptable during this time. Continuing to provide the service during these crazy times has been one of the biggest challenges I have experienced. I have been working 70-80 hour weeks to enable the service to continue to help patients. We have had higher cost of operations due to increased OH&S required. Increase cost of Personal Protective Equipment to protect our team and the community. Increase administration costs to operate the service safely. Increase administration cost to make constant changes due to COVID. Increased accounting costs to help plan for future changes and effects on the service. We have had to deal with all these extra costs however we have had a significantly reduced workload. We believe this is due to the social distancing and the reduce spread of normal germs, sport activities which has reduced the injuries to patients and patients being scrare to go to the doctors. While this is a good thing, it has a significant impact on the operation of the Call The Doctor service. We will continue to run the Call The Doctor service in the future and continue to provide high quality health care to the community. Call The Doctor is locally owned and operated has been operating for 6 years in Hobart, Tasmania. Jesse Hardy Business Manager #Stayathome I have one grandparent left in a Nursing home, older parents in the high risk category and 3 beautiful sister.

16.01.2022 Today I stopped by Bill Young’s place to say hello. Bill is now the only soldier left alive from Sandakan and the only Australian still alive from Outram Road. ...Billy was just 15 years old when he enlisted in 1941, at the time telling Army recruiters he was 19. And as a member of 2/29 Battalion he went to Singapore with the 8th Division. His unit saw heavy action as the Allies tried to prevent the Fall of Singapore. Captured and taken to Sandakan Prisoner of War Camp in Borneo, Billy and a mate escaped, were re-captured and taken to Sandakan Prison and later the infamous Outram Road Gaol. The teenage POW survived. While coronavirus challenges prevented me from shaking Bill’s hand today. Along with all other Tasmanians I thank him so sincerely. Brave men and women like Bill who have endured so much, and fought so bravely for our state and country. Bill. It was great to meet you today.
