Enjoy a honey cake recipe from Felicia Kahn! .... ! .............................................. Felicia together with her husband Stan run the catering business 'Amaze in Taste' in Sydney. ( Amaze in Taste ) When the 2015 Arava culinary delegation was in Sydney, Felicia took them on a ''behind the scenes' tour of a Jewish community event that they were catering. The delegation got to meet with the 'Amaze in Taste' chefs and staff and see how all the food was prepared. Felicia also hosted the Arava photography delegation for a beautiful meal. A couple of days before Rosh Hashanah last week, we hosted a l'chaim apple and honey cocktail making event in honor of the New Year for the staff of the ZFA 'virtually' at the Porat honey farm in the Arava! During the event the staff reflected on the crazy year that was and wished for a sweet, happy and healthy new year ahead. ... Ginette Searle, the Chief Executive Officer of the ZFA said that it was so special to feel the Arava in Melbourne for Rosh Hashanah and how the event reinforced the very real and personal connection between our communities at a time when we miss being able to visit. ......................................... 20.01.2022 Chedva Schoener 1951 - 2020 It is with great sadness that we write that this week, Chedva Schoener, a beloved volunteer and member of the Arava Australia Partnership family passed away. Chedva, a veteran kindergarten teacher in the Arava, joined our partnership after participating in the 2012 Kindergarten Teacher Exchange program.... Chedva’s energy, positive attitude, creativity and commitment to the partnership was boundless, participating in steering committee and volunteer meetings as well as hosting delegations and individuals visiting the Arava. We will remember Chedva, not only for all of these qualities, but also for her humanity, great warmth and beautiful smile. To the Schoener family, we wish you Arichat Yamim at this time of great loss. 16.01.2022 New Partnership Project in the Arava With all the changes to the Israeli education system over the last year due to our Corona world, we are proud to be collaborating with the Arava Education Department to create 'Community Learning Centres' in each of the Arava communities for students in grade 5-12. The aim of these centres is to give the students a change from distance learning and provide a more structured, social and student driven learning environment and e...xperience where they can also receive support and guidance from teachers and volunteers who will be supervising the space. 05.01.2022 Sending some sweetness to our lone soldiers for the New Year! Last week our partnership sent Rosh Hashanah care packages to Australian Olim (people who have moved to Israel and become citizens) who made Aliyah with Garin Tzabar and are currently undertaking national service. Garin Tzabar is an organization which provides a full support system for young Olim through their IDF service.... We hope that these packages, which included products made by local Arava farmers including honey, silan (a date honey/syrup) and aloe vera soap gave the soldiers a sense of comfort and community as they brought in and celebrated the new year on base or at home; and for them to know that the Arava community is here for them; with whatever they may need as they start to build their lives here in Israel. ................................................ , ". , , . . . . , ". !
